Excuse the newb question here. I've been searching, and what I observe is a lot of off the shelf slap on shocks with generic one size fits all tunes.

I have a 2015 Power Wagon that I have King 2.5 shocks that have been custom valved to the things that annoy the living crap out of me on the trail. Imagine if Top of the World, which is just a terrible, annoying trail was enjoyable. Well, that's how my Kings are set up. The rebound is dialed in perfectly.

Anyways, looking at various lifts & suspension setups and I see a plethora of shock packages. Even some that are adjustable, like from Teraflex with the Falcon shocks.

But what I haven't seen or maybe just don't know because I'm so brand spanking new to this arena is what brands do custom valving to match their coils and will work with you to dial in your ride for your setup?

Anyways, perhaps I've been spoiled by having a setup that's dialed into the weight I carry and the things that annoy me on the trail.

And I want my Jeep build here to have a similar theme.

Am I being stupid? Advice? Opinions? Should I GTFO?

:)

Custom valving can be done in any of our RRD 2.25's, 2.625's or 3.25 shocks (2.625's and 3.25's don't fit in stock mounts). In addition, you'll find King, Fox and Radflo have custom options available. You'll want to specify what springs you're using and how the vehicle is set up to select a baseline valving profile with any of these companies.

There are several shock tuning companies out there like Accutune who will spend time with you and your vehicle to tune them to your wants in the terrain where you use your vehicle.

We can order shocks custom valved from King or Radflo, and we can tune anything in-house. The best way to guarantee you are going to like the ride, is to get an adjustable set which will allow you to dial Compression to your preference in any situation without the need for removal or dissassembly.

Otherwise, fitting the correct brand of shock to the correct lift will take out 99% of the need for valving customization in an application like a Jeep.

Digressive Valved shocks (Bilstein/Falcon) need to be custom tuned to the lifts they are being fitted too or else Multi-Rate coiled lifts feel stiff or unresponsive. Linear valved shocks like Fox/King will be much more predictable and work better with a wider range of kits.
