I have the Midland 275 GMRS radio with the Ghost antenna. Is it possible to switch antennas between the 3db ghost and the 6db 32" whip antenna? Will each antenna need to be retuned?

It sounds like you need to talk to Midlands to see if you can exchange/ pay difference between the two.

Don’t want to exchange them, I want to use the Ghost smaller one in the overgrown brushy trails of Wa and the taller one in open areas of Az. Is it possible to switch them out as needed ?

If they both use the same type mount (for example both are NMO mounts) then yes, you can change them for the terrain you are driving.

Yes, easily swappable. You can't tune the Ghost antenna but if you want to get the nth degree of performance out of the 6db antenna you can tune it with an SWR meter and by shortening the whip itself. Once tuned, you can still swap back and forth with the Ghost and you will not hurt the performance/tune.

Thanks. What will cutting the extra length of cable do? Will it help with the swr?

You cut (shorten) the antenna, not the cable
