While it would be nice if FCA could find more HP and TQ, it's probably late in the game to do so reliably without major R&D. On the other hand, these Silverado rumors have been out for some time, so FCA had to have seen it coming. Maybe that's one of the real reasons the diesel launch has been delayed for the Gladiator and JL.

FCA has lost many millions from their lack of 3.0 certification for the 1500 alone, let alone the GC and JLU. If they were allowed to sell any of them last year, they would have. Trouble being, when you piss off the EPA with your emissions software, you roll over to their contrived delays as a preferable form of punishment compared to VW’s situation.

While the gladiator might not see a boost the 1500 which competes with the Silverado might get a bump.

We know that the 3.0 and 8 speed in the 1500s hold up to around 550ft/lb with a hot gde tune.

No cooling issues with the 1500.

They have a class action lawsuit settlement to pay for and another lawsuit from the thousands of us who turned down the Class action and are suing them as part of a mass tort lawsuit for fraud and buyback of our vehicles at original purchase price.

Yup...and the total liability when all is said and done won’t scratch the surface of the $20+ billion VW shelled out. Whatever FCA loses will still be a massive relative financial win.

Except FCA doesn't have pockets nearly as deep as VW.

Fair. VW Group’s market cap is about 3-fold FCA’s. We’ll use that as a rough standard of relative penalty comparisons. My money is still squarely in the corner of VW getting hosed worse...we’ll see.
