Getter ready to order new wheels and tires but I'm questioning myself again

I have it narrowed down to two different wheels and on BFG AT K02's or possibly Duratracs. My Jeep is a 6 speed and is mostly used on the road so I do not want my choice to make it less fun on the road. I also do not plan on lifting the Jeep so I don't want to get a set of wheels and tires and then think it doesn't look right so I need to lift it. My plan is to go with 255/75R17 because it's slightly larger but it doesn't seem like it's enough to make a difference in on-road drivability. I had 33/12.50 and 33/1050's on my TJ and it seemed like it just drove better on the 10.50s.

What I've found is that 265/70R17 seems to be a more common size - more options available and doesn't add a lot of weight or diameter to the tire.

They’re actually a shorter tire than 255/75, but slightly wider. I have them in a KO2 on my JK now but noticed KO2 can now be had in 255/75. I’m not sure what I’ll do next. The KO2 has worn really nice but ones been a bugger to keep balanced. I would like to go 33” but OP brings up a good point about gearing.

I did see a Wrangler unlimited with 265/70's on it the other day and they looked good. I have considered that size as well because they may fit the wider rims a little better but I don't want he RC truck look either with the wider wheels on stock height tires.

The 255/75 are a true 32" which is really only about 1/2" taller than the 245/75's that came on my Jeep but they seem to fit the wheel wells pretty nicely on the Willys

Those wheels are nice, might just post a WTB on the site for Willys takeoff wheels & tires, will be a similar look and the wheel & tire sizing hits your bullseye!

Of the two you list, the MR149 looks better in my opinion. However, both wheels are going to look better on six lug axles which might be why they are so popular on the Toyotas. To me, six (or 12) spoke designs look odd with 5 lug bolt circles.

Have you considered some JT Overland take off wheels? This solves the width problem and you could add some 1" spacers later to get the same stance as the Motegi wheels.

They don't look stretched and the biggest issue is if you are aired down in the teens mud will get stuck in between the rim and tire. I really don't plan on having to air down that much with this Jeep.

I forgot to point out that while the Gladiator wheels share most JL wheel dimensions, they are 18" wheels so they likely are heavier than your current wheels. Note these come with 255/70R18 tires which work out the exact same size as the 255/75R17's you are looking at.

I prefer the MR150's. They'd be easier to clean & lighter. I'm not a fan of fake beadlocks or too many nooks and crannies, so both your choices look good to my eye.

Another to consider would be the Method 316's. They're just shy of 25Lbs and still reasonably priced ($200ea). 8.5" wide 0 offset, so they may "poke" more than you want.

I don't really think this would look good on a wrangler but has anyone ever seen these in person?

They are Grand Cherokee Track Hawk replicas. The are 17x8 and weigh 26lbs and have a 35 offset. I usually like wheels with a lip but I've seen some Jeeps with without that looked good.

They look aggressive on the Track Hawk but they are 20" wheels with street tires. Just kind of curious what a 17" with more aggressive AT tires would look. They even kind of look like the
Rubicon/Willys wheels

They kind of remind me of these without the beadlocks

They should look pretty good but that offset on a non-Rubicon won't give you much room when flexing the suspension, especially if you go to a larger than stock tire.

If you stick w/ the 255 width tires you should be fine, depends if you plan to go bigger in the future.

My daughter has the method 309's on her sport S: with the 0 offset, running 285/70-17 ko2's, hers protrude beyond the flares about 1/2".
if you went with a +18 offset, you'd be about 3/4" inside this, or roughly 1/4" inside the flares...factory wheels are +44, so you'd be essentially moving the wheel/tire 26mm to the outside of where they sit from the factory..or about an inch wider than factory
