I have a 2020 Willys Wrangler. It comes with the 17inch Moab black wheels (specs below). I like the look of the stock wheels, but I would like to add larger tires (preferably 35 x 12.5). If I have to buy new wheels to run tires this size, I will. But, I would like to know possibilities, pros, and cons, etc. Is anyone able to explain a little about wheel and tire fitment?

Thanks for the links. So, if I understand, a set of 315/70R17 tires will fit on my 17 inch wheels. Do I need more wheel width to accommodate the increase in tire width?

I'm interested in information also. I have on order a 2021 Willys, same wheels.
Then there is also the question on gearing. I ordered with the 6spd. manual tranny,

Just ask @cosine he knows!
With the willys pkg you already have half the Rubicon suspension (the shocks) so you'll need the longer Rubicon springs to adequately run 315/70s or true 35s.

If you plan to keep your stock wheels you should also plan to run some spacers to push the tire edge further from the inside frame/fender area, as this will be a contact point when flexing out the suspension. Unfortunately I'm not aware of any spacers thinner than a 1.5" (that have positive feedback) so that would be the minimum you would have to extend.

Here's some info I plugged in for you, it's your stock set and a new 315/70 set w/ 1.5" spacers, scroll down to see the various effects you'll see w/ the fitment
https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wh...0-17X7.5ET6&fcl=2in&wcl=1.25in&scl=2in&sr=0in

Luckily the Rubicon springs are cheap and spacers shouldn't set you back too much. If you decide to update to a new set of wheels something in the 17x8.5 zero offset should get you there. If you want even more room to the inside look for a bit more negative on the offset up to about a -12. Anything more than that -12 shouldn't be needed and you get a larger scrub radius which can effect steering response and performance.

Here's the stock wheels w/ spacer and the 315/70s and a new 17x8.5 (zero offset)wheel that will have a similar fit without a spacer added (a much better option IMO)
https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wh...0-17X8.5ET0&fcl=2in&wcl=1.25in&scl=2in&sr=0in

And a thread I put together regarding the Rubicon suspension swap (you Willys guys won't need to swap the shocks and nice to have an extra set when it comes time to freshen them up :) )

Thank you for the info. I just installed a mopar lift, so I have plenty clearance. I think I'll go with the spidertrax 1.75 spacers.

With the 6spd you're best off w/ no taller than a 315/70, there are other sizes to consider if the tires you like are available in the following sizes. The following would fill the wells nicely and not tax your sport gears as much as a true 35.

285/70
295/70 (this is what I run) and pic is my JL w/ Rubicon springs (and a front 3/4" spacer to level after winch & bumper) and as it sits now.
305/70
315/70
285/75 (there's an entire thread or two just on this size)

What a beautiful ride. I'm new at all this 'raising' the suspension. I'm a sports car kinda guy originally and we're always trying to get ours lower haha.
Sorry for the redundancy but I want to be perfectly clear with what I can do.
With the Willys package, (having Rubicon shocks), I can get a lift of approx. 1.50 - 1.75" by purchasing the Rubicon springs and for added protection of not sacrificing steering or handling issues purchase the LCA that you've provided the part # for. Then I can run 33s of the various sizes you've mentioned? I really love the Moab wheels on the Willys and would like to keep them. The 33s seem to be a good compromise.
Your expertise is much appreciated!

Mark, thanks for the kind words!
I too have been in the "lowering" frame of reference for the last decade or so w/ Infiniti Gs. But was a "lifter" in my earlier life lol.

No expert for sure but will read up all I can and visit youtube for anything of use regarding what I plan on doing :)

You didn't state whether you have a 2dr or 4dr. If you have a 2dr expect about a 2" lift and a 4dr about 1.5" if you can locate springs from the heaviest gas Rubicons (the Diesels give even more lift but may be too firm, since I didn't use Diesel springs I can't confirm this). Since you only need springs you could order them in the longest part #s from Bamparts https://www.bamwholesaleparts.com/
or the dealer. As far as specific spring #s you'd have to dig through some threads to find the longest ones.

If you get a set from a fellow member look for ones from a 4dr w/ hardtop, tow pkg & steel bumper set, these will get the tallest springs.

As far as 33" tires, the 285/70s are more of a 32.5, 295/70 are 33.3, 305/70 are 33.8, 315/70 are 34.2 as well as the 285/75. If you want a bit more tire lift and fill the wheel well just right anything 295 through 315 (including the 285/75) should fit the bill!

The Willys is a 2dr. with the 3.6 gas. Thank you for the recommendations on springs.
Yes I was investigating the various tire sizes you had mentioned. Looks like, as you, the 295s will fit the bill nicely. Oh and the wheel spacers!

I've not seen any wheel manufacturers give a list of tire sizes that work with their wheels, but tire manufacturers generally do give a list of wheel sizes that work with their tires.

For example, let's go shopping for some Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires:
https://www.falkentire.com/tires/light-truck-suv-cuv-tires/wildpeaka/t3w-tire

Scroll down to the 17" section, then look to the right at the "Approved Rim Width (in)" column and the biggest tire they suggest using is
