Y’all I made a huge rookie mistake. So, I ordered the gecko green Jeep. I ordered it around mid august. When I went to the dealer last week, to trade out of my Mojave for the grand Cherokee L, I decided to check on the build. Tell me why!!!!!! I ordered the wrangler in manual!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone have experience with manual Jl’s or should I reorder in automatic?

Anyone have a Gecko with black painted bumper flairs? Thinking about upgrading mine to a paintable and go black.

every JL you can wish for
Had a request for some more pictures (and more detail of the wheels).

Just got paint protection film installed today plus the air pocket back decals. Gears going in tomorrow now after some delay on parts.

I took this on a 3.5ish hour road trip to Minneapolis airport and back last week. Can’t say enough good things about the yeti steer smarts equipment. Flawless at interstate speeds.

Still waiting on American adventure lab lights and inner fenders plus rock slide engineering power steps

No never driven stick before. I ordered it like that by mistake. But it was too late to change it since the vin had already been assigned. So I pretty much either take delivery of it or lose it.

Is it colored or just black to let the paint shine through?
Its a black outline (you can get the outline in a bunch of colors). Its the body paint showing through.

Well, chances are you won’t get another Gecko.
That being said, that’s a pretty big one to get wrong (obviously it was a mistake but saying it’s a big one in the sense that it’s probably the biggest of all of the options that could be missed). It happens.

If it was me, I wouldn’t take delivery. I know that Gecko is a great color but you need to live with this on a daily basis. I’d reorder in your next best color or wait until the 2022 model year and hope there is a new color you like more. I know how to drive a manual and wouldn’t do it (not because it’s not a fine option, for me it’s not what I want).

I guess you could always take delivery, try it out, and see if you can sell it if you don’t like it (as long as the used car market is still strong like it is now).

trying to decide if I want to do black or matte black... what color are you doing?
Matte for me. Fits with the rest of the decals already on it. I was actually tempted to do the equivalent of "surf blue" to match the 4xe colors but figured it wouldn't stand out as well.

You'll learn how to drive the manual pretty easy. Back in mid 2000s my sister wanted an Audi TT and back then they only did them in manual. I taught her how to drive a manual in my 89 YJ in a single evening.

she drove it home and shifts gears like a pro fast and furious.

You'll love the manual and it'll be even funner since you are new to the stick

I did standard black. I'm going to toss it on the back just above the bumper. I didn't think any of the colors really go with the chrome emblems on the front.

That’s the route I’ve gone as well - I drove friends manuals in HS and liked it. Went for a test drive with one and had a bit of bumpy ride with a couple stalls as the clutch on the jeep is significantly different that the little 4 cylinders I learned on a decade ago. But! Manual is by far the most fun to drive and if you’re not in a daily traffic jam I’d say go for it if you like driving! Good luck with your decision!
Picking mine up in an hour and I haven’t slept that badly since a kid before Christmas
