Ok I have read and read but can’t find my exact answer. I have a 2 door sport with the 3.6 and 6 speed manual. It has a super lift 2.5in lift with 33 in tires. So I am torn on my gears. Should I go 4.10 or 4.56. I drive a lot of highway and normally cruise about 75. Right now I do that in 5th. My concern is going with the 4.56 and rps being to high on the highway.

I am guessing since yours is a Sport, that you currently have 3:72 gears. My 2 door Rubicon, 3.6 with 6 speed manual, came with 4:10 gears and 33 inch tires. I thought that was a great combination. My wife's 4 door JLU Sport has the 3:72 but with an Eco Diesel and those work well for her especially on the highway.

I would look into getting some Rubicon take off axles and put them on. I seen a few used on and off over the past year. Doesn’t seem like it would be much more then the cost of new gears and get stronger axles.

That depends on what altitude you live at and what kind of off roading you do. If you're in an area with a lot of hills the shorter gears (higher number) are better. In the flat lands taller gears (lower numbers) are good.

High altitude, rock crawling, towing, and hills all want shorter gears. Future plans also come in to play. Will you go to 35s? Then 4.56s are the better choice. If you're not going to 35s and you don't do anything that needs shorter gears, 4.10s would work.

Parting thought. The 3.6 Pentastar is an engine that likes to rev. Don't be afraid of higher RPMs on the highway.

Here's a couple prices on brand new crate axles, if you get the pair at the same time you can save quite a bit on shipping.

By the time you were to change gears, add lockers, and strengthen the smaller sport axles you're going to spend as much or more, and FWIW the Sport sets are 3.45:1 gearing.

And switches/wiring to control the e-lockers, and I believe a new track bar, so there are a few more costs to consider for sure. I think the rear crates come w/ brakes but the fronts don't (AFAIK) so you'd have to use sport front brakes or get a Rubicon front set.

Quick look on eBay, you can get a set of Rubicon axles for about $3,000-3,500 and I imagine you can get about $1,000 for the stockers.

I went with 4.10 gears on my ‘19 2 door Sport (3.6L / 6MT) after going to 33s. Felt perfect on the Highway.

At what rpm are you running at say 70 or 75mph?
