sorry I gotta flog the gear horse again. I have a rubicon 3.6 auto. currently running 35s and plan to add 37s once these shoes are worn down. I have a travel trailer that I tow (2700lbs dry). Currently it does ok on level ground but hunts for a gear hard when in the hills. I want to find the best gears for daily driving as this is my daily driver. From all the reading I've done it seems 4.56 should be sufficient for 37s. Would 4.88s be better for the occasional towing that I do? and would the jeep be upset by running the taller gears until I get new shoes (at least a year) ?

With the 8 Speed you would be perfectly fine going with 4.88's especially with 37's and towing. I would even consider 5.13's. Whatever you do..don't waste your time or money of 4.56's.

I personally run 5.13's with the 6 speed manual and 35's..although I will be going to 37's soon

check out this calculator if you never have

The advantages of leaving 35s on the Jeep far outweigh the additional performance of 37s.

In other words, what you're about to sacrifice for an additional 1 inch in ground clearance is too significant.
