Got about 16 the first week on the Rubicon. A month in, I've learned to finesse the pedal a bit, now getting 19 - 20. Mixed 30 mph city and 55 - 70 highway commute. I only use start/stop at long red lights; too many stop signs in my neighborhood, gets annoying.

Stock Sport auto on all terrains. I'm pretty happy with it. I'm getting about 2-3 mpg less than I did with my Mazdaspeed3 on the same commute.

My Rubicon manual transmission refuses to go more than 19 mpg.

For me, it keeps it at perfect constant speed as the highway goes up and down hill even if slightly. When I ride in other people's cars, I noticed how much people tend to slow and speed up on even slight turns or inclines.
That is the example I provide people when explaining how bad drivers cause problems. If people drove as well as they should we would have a lot less traffic headaches.

Now that I have about 6600 miles on the rubicon I am getting about 20 MPG. I am very pleased with that, especially living in a hilly area.

I recently hit 1,500 miles. I'm averaging between 20-21 MPG. My work commute is 7 miles one way at 35-40 MPH. I take a short freeway trip (10-15 miles one way) 1-2 times per week. Using regular octane.

... Essentially you might get a slight boost in power (usually most impacting torque) from higher Octane fuel on its own, if the engine computer can take advantage of it, but usually it’s a minor boost, of maybe a percentage or a few, and really that won’t move the MPG needle much. ...
Just a subjective observation:

Over the last 2 weeks I was on vacation driving around eastern Canada in a rented 2018 Dodge Caravan 3.6L V6 mini-van. On the first gas refill, at an "Irving" gas station in Quebec City, I was surprised to learn that at some Canadian stations they don't post the actual octane rating numbers on the pump. They just had 3 labels, which were called "Ordinaire", "Plus Sans Plumb" and I think "Premium". I was about empty, so I put in nearly a whole tankful of Ordinaire - I don't know what it's actual octane rating was or if it contained ethanol. Soon after I drove away, I detected a noticeable loss of power compared to whatever gas had been in it when I picked up the rental car.

This is the first time I have detected a real difference in performance by using a higher octane gas than called for by the manufacturer. This may have been due to the fact that the van was heavily loaded with 6 passengers and their luggage. Although I failed to do the calculations, I suspect I also got worse mileage on the lower octane. After that I always used the mid-octane level gas and it seemed to help the performance.

I have a Sport 2dr that I received just before Memorial Day. I took a road trip that weekend and drove 324 miles before i filled up (it was below 3/4 of a tank). I put in a little more than 10 gal and the display said I was getting 24.4 MPG. I was lucky that i did not have to stop for traffic the entire way and was on cruise control at 63 with the AC running full blast. Since then i drove to work a couple times and i am getting about 21 but its all highway to work and not too many lights

I have just a little over 2235 miles on my JL. I just got back from a 400 mile trip up to the north woods traveling at 70 to 74 mph. In town average is 18.5 and that was pulling a boat and triler, Highway driving yesterday I got 23.5 mpg. When I filled up the tank in Eagle River Wisconsin, I had a mileage range of 423 miles. Using regular gas, Wrangler JLUSs. Tires are Wrangler Duratrac 285/75R/17. 48 lbs in each tire, heated up on the trip to 50 lbs. Rated for 60.
I might add it is a hard top, no wind noise, have the JB sound system. which reports to give sound dampening... seems to be working. And best of all this JL doesn't leak like my JK did. Better knock on some wood.

wow, I've been averaging 20-21 and its been doing mid 20s on the highway. Shows a big difference those Rubicon upgrades do for fuel economy.

I have a new sahara JLU with manual trans and factory AT tires. averaging over 20.5 and probably 70% backroads at around 40-55mph 30% highway.

only have 400 miles so I am really happy with the fuel economy (although I do find the double overdrive a bit much and have to downshift to pass on the highway which I didn't have to do with my old JK).
