I am looking into getting a 2.0 2 door Rubi. I wonder what kind of mileage that would get....I drive like an old man. Mileage is not the most important thing with a Jeep, but it sure is nice to have some decent numbers.
Driving like an old man has it's benefits. I have a 2.0 2dr Rubi and I'm averaging around 19 MPG. But I'm up at 1-2 miles elevation. You'll do much better way down where you are. Also CC/ACC is your friend for maximizing MPG. It's that heavy foot that really brings it down.

Hold up!!!

Are you guys sure that Sports get better mileage than Rubicons?

I don't know. I am just asking.

I'd be surprised if they don't, given the different gear ratios and greater weight of the Rubicon.

The Rubicon gets worse MPG because
- It sits approximately 2 inches higher than the sport, larger frontal surface area means more drag
- AT tires are more draggy on the highway than all-season tires which comes on the sport
- 33 inch tires are heavier than thee smaller tires on the sport, rotational mass makes a larger difference on efficiency.
- Dana 44 front axles have larger/draggy-er internal components
- Beefier axles, skid-plates, side-rails adds weight to the jeep, which lowers MPG
- Different axle ratio means the sport has taller gears (this is somewhat counteracted by the bigger tires of the rubicon)

That being said, I also saw an indicated 30MPG on the highway from Denver to Co Springs and back so even with correction factor I'd say I got 27-28MPG in reality.

Same here with mine but , off by 2 mpg.... On a straight road I max out the mpg reader gauge too...I know for sure I don't make anywhere near the 30's.

It would make sense and it would seem so even on paper

My DD is a ‘20 Sahara 2.0 T on 35s.
3.45 gears.

Running 89 oct gas which 95%+ of the time comes from a shell station.

Setting between 33-35k miles.

A good piece of my driving is on State Highways where 50 - 55 is often top speed. Probably 1/4 - 1/3 of my total Milage is interstate travel 70 - 75 MPH.

Over the Memorial Day weekend, average for total milage (since new) I reached 27.5 mpg.

I typically set around 23 and 25 using spring - summer - fall mix. Winter mix I drop to around 18 -20.
Just threw 35s on my sport with stock gearing. You’re getting what i’m wanting to get for mileage. Of course depends on how I drive. I’ll update in a week when I fill up again.

Don't really care about 14 but I thought it would be better.
Does anybody think you get better mpg on higher octane fuel?

The computer on my 2020 2.0 JRLR always shows higher mileage than hand calculated.
So far out of the last 4 tanks of fuel, all hand calculated and averaged together I'm getting 22.6 mpg with 87 octane.
I drive a few mph over the posted speed limit on the highway.
My mileage is combined driving and I don't have a heavy foot.

I will continue to calculate about 8-10 tanks averaged together to have a more accurate average.

If I continue getting around 22+ mpg, I will be happy.

That seems right. In stock form, my 2.0 Sport was getting 26-28mpg and I had a few trips where I had an average of 30+. That all disappeared when I got a lift, slightly larger tires (33”), heavy steel bumpers and winch, 4.56 gears and a roof rack and awning :) Even with all that and about 800lbs of gear including an RTT I can still manage 20-22mpg IF I keep the Speedo at 60 or under. BIG drop as you go north of 65.
