@Hip2u77

Did you take the time to read my post..........

I had no problem with the way that JLU was towed with all 4 wheels off the ground. That is aok.

The OP in his second post said tow truck driver wanted to tow with a set of wheels (frt) on the ground which is a not good.

I suggested OP find a guy with a FlatBed truck in the future. As for me, I would not want my JL towed around on friggin dolly's like that just because........

My apologies, I didn't read all of it. I stopped reading after the bold, red "FCA warns AGAINST dolly towing. . ."

So a quick update. Spoke w the dealership today. Said the jeep is starting and operating w no problems today. Powertrain software update (recall fix) was done but unrelated. Said the data logs only show a low power connection to the battery a.k.a crappy battery connection. They said the fuses, bus bar connections, etc. are all perfect. They are going to keep it tomorrow and try to re-create the problem to try and catch it in real-time. Otherwise they think it somehow is/was a problem with the battery connection. Oh, and also they said the batttery today is checking out perfectly as well. ????

What did I learn? Two things: 1) power steering and brakes don’t work when the car (any car) isn’t running
WRONG! What you didnt learn is in fact they DO work they just take one heck of a lot more effort to steer/brake:)

Sorry to add to this subject, but I had a similar issue this morning if you saw my other post. Hit the ignition button this morning in my driveway and the dash lit up, dials started bouncing, all lights flashing including sway bar and diff switch lights, wipers going, speakers popping and the dash display flipping through all the menu pages. It kept saying 'car not in park' but start button wouldn't come off RUN. Couldn't turn it off. I disconnnected the battery and waited a few minutes. Re-attached the battery and it immediately went back into the same crazy mode. Still not starting and couldn't turn it off. I took a video during it as well. Called FCA and they towed it back to my dealership. Dealership tried and it did the same thing. They tried again and it started right up like normal. They got to see it wigging out. They said they'd look at it tomorrow. It sucks!

So an update, the service manager at my dealership called me this morning and said that the jeep had been functioning normally...until this morning. He tested it this am and it started just fine and ran normally. The second time he started it he got a warning message he told me said something like "accessories, low battery voltage." So now he is getting their electrical specialist to look at it today. Said he hopes to have something for me this afternoon....

Still waiting for a call from Jeep with further support...

Mine did the same thing. Battery connection ground was loose and now all is ok for now. So weird. Also new recall came out for the cruise control. Going back next week to get that all worked out.

Yeah i think the fuses-> auxillary battery-> start/stop button-> relay is a bugged system.

I got my jeep back today! They said they were able to diagnose a short in the ignition/electric start-start this morning when it malfunctioned. They replaced the ignition and relay and working fine now.... time will tell...

Bummer I joined the Demonic electrical club this weekend as well.
My wife tried to start the Jeep Friday morning and had similar issues. Dash lit up and started rolling service messages, sway bar and lockers flashing, lights on, wipers running, cooling fans screaming and couldn’t shut it off.
I pulled the battery cable, but the secondary battery kept everything running. Started to get that hot electrical smell so I pulled the fan relay and put the transfer case in neutral to push it out of the garage.
Eventually the aux battery died. Called FCA and they sent a flat bed to take it the dealer. Dealer claimed a Software update would fix it an we would have it before the end of the day. Talked to the technician Saturday and he still couldn’t find the problem.
Hopefully get an update tomorrow.

Oh dang. Yep sounds like a very similar problem. My service dept ended up qorking with jeepcares and found a "STAR" case for the same problem, which was with the start button relay to the auxillary battery...

Anyway, hope u get it fixed and back very soon!

I’ll ask them to check with Jeep Cares on the star case

Sorry to hear this, and yes it sounds similar, we had all sorts of messages, wiper started and the car became a brick. In exactly the same position and do feel for you. We also came from a RR Sport and very concerned on overall reliability - especially to the point of taking this vehicle "off the grid". The good news is that the dealer and FCA are trying to work something out, will wait and see how this goes, but in a loaner at the minute so at least some transport. Very disappointing.
@TexasBrit - My wife's Jeep had the exact same issue. It's been in the shop about three weeks not with no end in sight... Did your dealer ever get a fix?

Just picked our up from the dealership today. Everything seems OK at this point.
Apparently shorted wires? Took them a week with a factory tech to diagnose and repair.
Fingers crossed we have no more issues.

Now that I've had some time to read through the entire service documentation it appears there were pinched wires at the drivers seat mount.

Here is the quote from my paperwork: Found the blue and yellow bus lines from star connector C4 to RFH are shorted together. Traced the wiring to the left side drivers seat area found harness pinched at seat mounting area. Repair 3 damaged wires with layover and bus communications restored.

Not sure I feel good about "repairing" pinched wires.

Another Tech told me this type of issue should be fixed with a new harness. The Jeep is brand new..... only 4900 miles!

Should I be concerned?

JEEPCARES can you look into this for me?

I had this happen twice in a '96 F150 I "early" inherited from my grand father some 15 years ago. He was getting up there in age, and started getting dementia, and could no longer reliably drive.

He lived in the low country of South Carolina and loved to take his boat out and fish. He had the dealership modify the exhaust so that it was in front of the rear wheel so it wouldn't be submerged. They did not reroute any wiring, so over time my wiring to my breaks/tail were "tapping" against this exhaust.Tap tap tap FUSE as I am driving in the Charleston area. Truck shut off at 60 mph, every available warning light was ON on the dash. Radio out, power steering, brakes, everything. The brakes would allow me to glide, but the steering wheel took a tremendous amount of effort to get the vehicle to turn off. Thankfully I was able to turn with no oncoming traffic and eventually stop in a vacant lot with no business or other cars parked.

Total failure of the electrical system. Computer, Internal harness, "external" harness, as well as solenoids. The Ford dealership hit me for $1500, and still didnt get it resolved. I took it to a local shop and got popped for another 700 or so. Had to drop the trans to get to the solenoids. That one hurt, but sounds familiar.

Not really . If nobody was hurt , it's merely money . Let fca pay the money for repair or replace . Don't let it affect your normal life .
