Fumoto F106 M14-1.5 Drain Valve for the Wrangler JL

Regardless of brand, will all of these valves completely drain all of the oil in the pan? If not, how much would be left behind?

Have one on my Silverado, one on my motorhome, had one on my JK and I'll be buying on for the JL when it's due for an oil change. Makes changing the oil so simple with the 3.6 engine.

Of course, I drain mine all of the time without a hose. You can get a valve with or without a nipple. If you'd like the ability to use a hose, get the nipple version.

Does one come with both? So I could do either or with one plug.

No. The valve either has it or it doesn’t. Having a nipple does not require you to use a host to drain, though.

The only con I see with this is the lack of magnetic drain plug to catch metal shavings. I like to run goldplug. They catch A LOT of metal. Otherwise, I love this idea, especially if one isn't keeping the car forever.

i thought the same thing. I went to home depot, and got a package of strong magnets....i put one, close to the valve. I take it off when draining the pan.

Yes. The Fumoto fits right in the threaded oil plug hole at the lowest point of the oil pan.

Consider wrapping the threads of the Fumoto with yellow Teflon tape (not white) and then installing it..

You MUST use the provided blue washer that comes with the Fumoto.

For your information, the stock JL oil pan plug is washer less.

The Fumoto will probably come with one of their LC-10, locking clips which is plastic. It does do it's intended job but it does come off fairly easily.

Not mandatory, but suggest you go buy a 5/8" hose clamp and use that instead of the Fumoto plastic clip. The 5/8 metal hose clamp has to be installed with a plier and cannot be removed with your fingers... you must use a plier to remove.

I have the 106SX and the nipple is so short I have to hold the hose the whole time while the hose gets hotter from the oil. I have a skid plate protecting the engine/tranny and I am going to look at switching to the 106L (long nipple) so that I can eliminate the need to hole the drain hose while changing the oil. I saw someone concerned about getting all the oil out. I drive up on RV ramps from Harbor Freight and that ensures all the oil I can get out will come out. I do like the recommendation of placing a Neodymium Rare Earth Disc Magnet on the oil pan near the drain plug to attract metal particles and removing right before oil drain.

Use to be all the automotive places had them... also could find them at Fastenal and similar stores.
If you go to Amazon.com and search "Double Wire Spring Hose Clamp" you will see them available.

I place/keep a gun magnet on the bottom of the oil pan.

Gun magnets are usually covered with a thin black plastic coating.
They are real 40+- # magnets..

What magnet rating (lbs) do you recommend? Not sure if this has any impact.

Most gun magnets are 20+ lb magnets.... more often then not, 40#. 20# is plenty but I go with a 40#
