Have you removed the end caps or tried? On extreme terrains website in the Q/A section, ET staff say the end caps are not removable.
I removed the end caps in order to swap the tow hooks, easy process but it does not have captive nuts like the factory bumper just bolts and nuts. I painted the skid plate as it arrived with some scratches and light gouges, looks much better and reduces the rough texture of the coating. I plan on removing the bumper this summer to paint it the same way. I used Rustoleum semi-gloss black.

Thank you for the clarification, greatly appreciated. Looks like I'll be mounting the bumper without the ends caps. I have no problems with repainting the bumper since it gets destoryed during shipping, lol.
