So as I was taking the kiddo around trick er treating on Halloween I noticed a few vehicles with something called Frost Guard over their windshields to prevent frost or snow accumulation over night. So when I got home i researched it a bit and decided to give it a try for my wife's TJ which resides outside. Each morning I get up early to scrape and brush the windows and warm it up for her. So I figured if this worked I'd be saving myself some time. I picked up the standard size Frost Guard SIgnature w/ Mirror covers. It utilizes straps that go around the mirrors and one side has a security flap so it doesn't get stolen as well. It worked amazingly well. I can put it on the TJ in about 2 min. The mirror covers fit the TJ very well...they just barely fit the JL. So far the thing is saving me a good 10 min a morning. there are some drawbacks to the signature series witht the JL...see the cons but there is a solution.

Signature model w/ mirror covers $35

Pros
-keeps the frost and snow off
-saves lots of time
-reduces the likelihood of me cracking a windshield with my scraper which I've done before.
-mirror covers are very handy...I hate scraping mirrors since they get out of adjustment

Cons
-The standard size is just a hair too narrow for full coverage...cheating it to the drivers side I lose a little bit of coverage that I would lose with the wiper anyway.
-The vertical poles on the outside edges are a bit long but work with the TJ...they don't work great with the JL and its wider hood. Solution below.
-It comes with a storage bag but is a pain to put it in there. So I role it up and toss it in the back...as the frost melts things get wet.

After trying it out on the TJ I contacted Frostguard asking if they made one for the JL. They do make a wider model for pickups but it would be too big for jeeps. They tell me that they have a new bargin model to be released this week in Walmart for around $13-14. It has removable poles on the sides so I'm thinking I can cut them down to fit the JL windshield. Frost Guard tells me they will send me one to try out. When it arrived I went about fitting it. Gone are the elastic mirror straps. The Frost Guard Plus is held on by 2 security flaps that go through your door gap.. As I thought the poles were a bit too long so I cut them down 7 5/8 inch. Put them back in and it worked perfectly. It is the same size as the Signature series but is a lighter material. All cut down and wrapped up it fits perfectly in the hidden compartment in the way back.

Pros
-Modifyable and compact
-Fits JL when modified
-keeps the frost and snow off
-saves lots of time
-reduces the likelihood of me cracking a windshield with my scraper which I've done before.

Cons
-No mirror covers
-No mirror straps,...if you liked those

So overall I am very happy with the product. Frost Guard says they are also coming out with a rear window cover but didn't have a release date.

If they made one for the JL, I'd probably buy it. I use a large beach towel now, just shut the ends in the doors to keep it on.

The frost guard plus at Walmart works great on the JL . Just cut 7 5/8 off the tubes before assembly. At least with these it doesnt soak up the water and frost like a beach towel would.
