Going to drive the JLUR out to Vegas for SEMA. Thinking of flying my wife to Denver and then spending five days off roading from Denver to Vegas. What are the chances of some of the places like Black Bear Pass, Alpine Loop Engineer Pass or some of the others still being opened?

Also plan to visit Moab.

Please let me know. Big thanks.

So would I be better off to go in September? and skip SEMA?

Last year I did Engineer Pass in October, but the previous winter was far drier than this last one. Snow can begin to fall in earnest by Dec in the San Juans, and even here in Moab as well. November has generally been my favorite month of the year for outdoor stuff. Predicting the weather though can be incredibly hard because mountains can be volatile. I don't even think they're all open yet, plus, I did hear Imogene had significant avalanche damage. It's going to be a short season in CO this year
