We expect the fluid top off because a lot of places do it without asking. If you asked they would do it I am sure, but it is good practice to know what is going on with your rig, even (and especially) if someone else is doing work on it.

Who cares more about YOUR Jeep than you? Jeep Cares, sure, and the mechanic is paid to care for a few minutes, but that’s the extent of it.

What exactly is a “non full service” oil change? Do they not check the oil level ? Not change the filter? Not torque lug nuts or drain plug to spec?

I’m not saying they should wash it and vacuum the interior like luxury brand service departments do. Just do a competent job of what they do. No reasonable person can defend not checking tire pressures on a tire rotation. If you don’t do that, you’re doing it wrong.

Took my JLUR in for its first free oil change and tire rotation. A week later the washer fluid light comes on. It was completely empty. Shouldn't that have been checked by the dealer? Also checked tire pressure. It was all over the place, 36-39 psi. I did check the dipstick and it was ok. Comments from JeepCares are welcome.
Mr. Geezer, I'm a new guy here; but by far new to the planet or Jeeps. I stick my head under my hood once a week whether it be my new JLU or any of my old girls "just to look". It seems you have no idea whats going on under the hood and sadly if a dealer is rushed or heavy booked, "things can get over looked". My suggestion is take responsibility of your own fluids and frankly, filling your washer fluid is a courtesy not something they automaticly do.

You probably got 6 quarts of 5w-20 and not 5 quarts of 0w-20 like the manual says.

It depends what kind of vehicles you’re used to owning. If you own a marquee brand you can expect the sorts of things he mentioned to be taken care of. One premium brand car I own has a 121 point check (I think) list for each service visit, but that was also an expensive visit, and no freebie visits were included in the sticker price. But at the end of your service you were handed the form and the tech had to have all of the boxes checked off, which gives the owner some peace of mind. I wish all brands did that.

So I guess the lesson here is that you get what you pay for. Same as everything else.

I don't like the washer fluid those places use, anyway. I like better quality stuff, especially in the winter, so that it won't freeze. As for tires, your Jeep tells you the pressure at the click of a button, and chimes in if one is low. It doesn't get easier than that, not to mention the Vehicle Health Reports sent to your email and/or phone.

My wife's Subaru also came with free oil changes and tire rotation for the first 24 months/ 24,000 miles. They did the whole thing. To be fair, I think Subaru markets it as free "maintenance" though. Either way, when I take any vehicle into a dealer for an oil change, I expect a multipoint inspection which would include fluids, tires, electrical, etc.. I'm not sure why people here are blasting the OP for complaining that the dealer didn't check/ top off these basic items. I dunno, just my opinion.

I agree with your opinion. Jeep sold him a product, and a part of that product that he paid a lot of money for includes this service. They performed the service that he paid them for in an incomplete, half-assed manner. And he gets told not to complain, accept crappy service work, he should pay each time to do something himself that he’s already paid Jeep to do, take ownership of your vehicle, do your own maninenance like a real man, etc. As if they’re doing him a favor instead of doing what they agreed to do competently when they took his money.

I’m a real man and I’m really good at doing lawn work. But it’s 100+ degrees here the whole summer and I work a lot. So I often pay someone what I earn in a half hour to do 1.5 hours of lawn work in sweltering heat. By some of these guys’ logic, I should be OK with them taking my money and just cutting the grass without edging my driveway/walkway/curb and sweeping or blowing off the grass trimmings. Nope.

My receipt indicates they performed a mulit-point inspection in addition to the tire rotation and oil change. Not sure if that included fluids or not.

I think the OP provides a good reminder. Make sure you are clear with your expectations when you go into the dealer. For example when I went in for my oil change I asked them to check for any uconnect updates.

Is everyone pissed about going to back to work or something tomorrow? Holy sh&*.

I'd expect service done for the clearly visible fluid checks that are right where the "Professional" is resting his hand ... fill the washer fluid if it is low, then tell me it was. Would he not mention coolant or brake fluid if it looked low, at least mention it?

"uh, you only paid for oil change buddy." Bullsh&*

If they wanted my return service they'd treat my Jeep the way I would.

I'm used to dealers doing the other stuff along with the oil change. That being said, an oil change is just that, an oil change, not a service. Maybe the service dealer should have been more clear on what was included, or what was done when they were finished. They should have offered a "full service" with the appointment. But adding air or windshield wiper fluid isn't that hard. I normally try to top off my windshield wiper fluid prior to bringing it in so they don't use the cheap stuff.
