Hello Im losing my mind over which shocks to get for front and rear?

I ordered the metal cloak game changer 3.5 and need some shocks. I really care about ride quality but since these are both adjusters I think i can accomplish with both.

1. Which shocks do you guys prefer and why?

2. Also if my lift is 3.5 .. (might eventually even go to 2.5 inch by swtiching out the springs) which rated shock shoudl i get.. the 2-3 inch? or the 3.5-4 rated shocks for fox? The king is 2.5 - 5 inch so will go with that option if i go KINGS.

3. Anyone know the travel, comprssed and extended specs for KINGS 2.5? cant seem to find it.. the fox 2.5 (3.5-4 inch version) is 11.87 in travel, compressed is 18.43 and extended is 30.30

I think King’s are the best. However, Fox shocks are a pretty close second. Contact Accutune off road, they are located in Carson. They specialize in valving shocks based on lifts and use type, they will give you the info needed to make a decision.

King 2.5 fronts 25001-375 3-5” are 18.11-28.87
King 2.5 rears 25001-376 3-5” are 19.24-30
You can get them evo spec too I believe
Fox 2.5 fronts 18.34-30.51
Fox 2.5 rears 19.43- 32.3
There is a shock chart somewhere on this forum and it shows more info but I can’t find it.
I don’t remember what the longest collapsed length you can run with only 2” bump

The rocksports that come with MC 17-30” front and rear, so with Kings you lose a little bit of down travel in the front. Up travel is probably the same since most people need at least 2” bump stop even with new fender liners.
Both of those shocks are sweet! Can’t really go wrong.

I belive your fox shocks specs are for the 4.5- 6inch version that has the front at 20.51 and the rear at 32.3 ..

My lift kit is a 3.5 inch lift kit .. however getting off the phoen with metal cloak .. they are telling me to go with the 4.5-6 inch shock for more extended travel .. they said their kits are designed for shocks with 30 inch exteded travel.

Do you agree??

Yea. This is the same direction I’m going with. What is nice is that the kings or fox will work with the 2.5“ or 3.5” Coils, since MC uses the 17-30” rocksports on both lifts. I bet either shock will pair up nice with the stiffer MC coils. I liked falcons too, but I heard they ride pretty stiff.

I just got off the phone with a tuning company and theymade it clear that I should do the shock rated for 3.5 -4 and it the 4.5-6 because of the up travel I will lose on the 4.5-6

All depends on your setup, lift and tire with bump stops. Get hydro bumps to maximize your up travel then measure your collapsed and extended length when flexed out with tires on...

I like the kings but their length's (collapsed/extended) not too thrilled about for my application.

Yea, I would hate to bottom out some nice new shocks, or lose a bunch of uptravel. I wonder what the longest collapsed length you can get away with, with only 2” bumpstop.

not sure, probably around 17"-18" in the front (hoping 16" with trimmed fenders!), have to make sure control arm and steering linkages don't interfere. Tire rub on fenders deal with last..

I have the front hydro's sitting in the garage still. Maybe in 1-2 weeks Ill put them on and play. Running cheap fox 2.0's and still debating whether stay short arm and go with fox/king setup or go big with long arm and coilovers..

Lots to consider for a Jeep JL. For the best overall ride on the street and mild trails you would be better off with a tuned 2.0 R/R shock. If you are set on doing 2.5s and plan to do more high speed off-road they can work great, but wont be as smooth on the street. The adjusters on the Fox 2.5s are much better than Kings. Both are good brands
