Have a 2021 JLUR with 1.5" Teraflex spacer lift. I want to upgrade my shocks to Fox 2.0s.

I have two options, the 0-1.5" lift or 2-3" lift shocks. It looks like I could run the 0-1.5" shocks without bump stop extensions. However, if I go with the 2-3" shocks with bump extensions (0.5" in front, 1" in back) I get better numbers.

Jeep Wrangler JL Fox 2.0 IFP; 0-1.5" vs 2-3" 1638994848623

Is there any reason not to go with the 2-3" version of the Fox 2.0s with bump extensions? Seems less conventional than just going with 0-1.5".

Thanks for your help.

Running longer shocks to get better numbers is like trying to make yourself taller by wearing longer pants.

Choose the shock length that corresponds to your suspension travel and spring length - in your case: 1.5" lift.

If you put a shock designed for a lift without having the corresponding lift, then when you bottom out, you will bottom out the shock before you hit the bump stop. Bottom out like this once and your shocks are toast.

In both situations, because of the extended bump stops, I don't think it would bottom on the shock.

Looking at the back, I would go from 11" of stroke to 12.66". Assuming this isn't enough to unseat the spring, this is good?

I have done that myself but I ran Falcon 2.1, which is very similar to Fox 2.0 in compress and extension specs. I used the 1.5" kit (2" front and 1.5" rear spacers) and per their recommendation, they should be paired with 0-1.5" shocks. I went with 2-3" shocks and they worked just fine without springs popping out at full droop. I did have to add 1.25" front bumpstop extensions so I don't bottom on the front shocks. The rear is fine without extension.

Here is the side by side picture. Both are front shocks. One is for 0 to 1.5" lift, and the other is for 2 to 3" lift. I know they are not fox but if you compare the specs, they are very similar.

Hope it would help.

I’m running 4.5-6” lift shocks with 3.5” springs, without any problems. You just need to cycle the suspension and determine your bumps so you have a 1/2” of shaft showing at full stuff. You’ll be sacrificing a little up travel, but for me it was worth it for the extra articulation.

Thanks c20040215 and Roky! Comforting learning it's been done.

As mentioned, it seems getting the correct bump stop is the key. I don't know about the Falcon with no extenders in the back, but for the Fox's it looks like I have a 0.5" front 1" back minimum.

Just ask @cosine he knows!
And if you get a bit longer shock it's much cheaper to eliminate a bump stop then getting a full new set of shocks if you decide to lift it a bit more down the road :)

I've pretty much decided I want to go with the longer shocks. I didn't think it would be a problem finding a 0.5" and 1" bump stop extension.

I'm coming up empty. There are options for JK, and 0.5" shims. But I can't find bump stops in the 0.5-1" range for the JL.

Are there any options for bump stops that small on the JL? If not it might be back to the smaller shocks.

Teraflex makes 1/2” pucks.

I assume you're talking these:
https://teraflex.com/shop/suspensions/jl-0-5-bump-stop-strike-pad-shim-kit-front-rear.html

Which would be perfect. But as far as I can tell these are shims for their 2" and up bump stops. I don't know if they were made to use standalone, and they don't come with the hardware to do so...
There's no pic for these so I'm not sure exactly what we're dealing with, maybe @Roky would know, but this is a cut & paste from @cavguy

Here are the Mopar lift part #'s (be sure to double check before ordering), they work just fine and are 2".

Front bumpstop X 2

IIRC Hockey pucks are 1”, drill them out and add some hardware.

wouldn’t be tough to shave them down either.
