Looking under the hood of 2021 JLUR 3.6 with e-torque. Found a dust cover just sitting there, see pictures. Nothing obvious was missing a dust cover…any ideas what this may have been for?

Looks like a temporary cap that was left behind during assembly. Usually found on threaded hose ends or nipples.

Looks like a temporary cap that was left behind during assembly. Usually found on threaded hose ends or nipples.
That was my thinking too - thought I would post it out here just to confirm. There was nothing in the vicinity that looked like an obvious place for it to go.

I don’t work the JL line, but when I was moving Chrysler engines around in logistics I remember seeing these all over. I’m almost positive it’s a temporary cap that got left behind.
