I have a quick question. I took apart my dash to work on a bad squeaking noise caused by the plastic upper dash trim. While taking things apart to access that part, several clips seem to have popped or fell inside. Is this okay? I reattached everything and it feels as sturdy as before. I’m uploading a picture specifically of one of the metal clips that connected the upper dash into the slots of the steering wheel. I couldn’t get the tabs to slide into it all, so there’s 4 slots at least with no tab connecter. Am I just being too picky and this is all normal/fine? Thanks in advance y’all.

Eager to see pics. I used to install car audio stuff for a living, and my instinct is that it’ll be fine, but I need to see.

As Sean said, if you’re tracking down noises, you’ll probably not want to add new variables though...

Were they plastic or metal clips?

I believe they are little blue plstic clips if yoy are talking about the full length top dash piece. I took mine off when attempting to wrap my silver pieces. At least 2 clips fell behind, maybe 3 I forget. Itll be fine. Mine doesnt rattle like its loose or anything, still pretty snug. Replace them if a huge concern I suppose?

Not sure why pic didn’t upload originally, here it is.

Just posted a pic above, but 4 were those metal ones attached to the full length upper trim piece. It appears that four of the slots on the driver side are those metal teeth clips, where as the rest are plastic and the ends are blue.

I definitely lost those blue ones, and possibly some others. I knew other people lost theirs as well from searching forums, however I couldn’t tell if people were replacing them or just letting it be. My dash also feels sturdy, so I’m guessing I’m in the clear as well.

If you lost ALL the clips, you'd have an issue. But a few might not make a difference. On a side note, did you track down that squeak?

That’s what I was thinking. And yes, thankfully! Obviously it’s a wrangler and going to have squeaks (I’ve got several others that I just ignore), however this one was pretty bad. Bad enough to make me tear my dash apart, lol. I just lined my dash with foam in all the spots where the upper dash piece makes contact and that seems to have solved it. Ironically, after losing clips, my upper dash trim feels 50% stronger. It used to wiggle quite a bit.

I have a squeak coming from the dash/steering column area. The first time I took it to the dealer, they told me they could not duplicate the concern. I took it back today and took the advisor for a ride with me. He kind of heard it a couple of times, but he's not tuned into it like I am. It's going back on Monday but I'd like to give the tech some suggestions. Other than the dash top, did anyone else have a similar squeak? Thx.
