Really quick and easy question. Can you flat tow a Jl 2 Door, manual, sport behind an rv? And is their a "flat tow mode" like my 2016 f150? Any info about flat towing one of these would be appreciated.

The quick answer is yes, you can flat tow the Wrangler.

Do a search on flat tow and you'll find a lot of discussion on it. Jeeps have always been one of the easiest to set up for flat towing which is why you see so many on the highway obediently following the family RV.

You can tow it with no issues. Simply put the transfer case in neutral and the transmission in park if automatic or in gear if manual.

Do you have the steel bumper group? It looks like only the Demco base plate works with the factory steel bumper. I'm currently trying to figure out what to buy to flat tow mine.

there is a kit for wiring to the jeep for brake/turn/running lights. also yes, tcase in neutral, trans in park/1st gear and be sure to unlock the steering. i'm not sure just how to do that with the push button tho. someone else may chime in on that one.

Blue ox has a base plate for the JL with any bumper, it works great. Installed myself at 70 and went on nicely.

@caged

The 2018 JL/JLU does not have a steering wheel that locks.

There is no steering wheel lock on the Wrangler.

I am in the process of putting the demco on. My Rubicon came with the plastic bumper. i have bought a Stock Steel bumper so that the Demco Skid plate works. The reason I went with the Demco is so I can have the steel bumper with a winch. No other Baseplate works with a winch on a stock bumper. ie.. The demco mounts to the outside of the frame rails all the others mount to the inside. I also had to buy the Stock Metal skid plate mounts as the Demco skid plate mount to the stock Steel skid mounting spot. I have to swing by the dealer on the way home and get the parts so I can finish it up... Oh, I went with the Roadmaster Night Hawk all Terrain tow bar

I have a Rubicon with steel bumpers. The blu ox adapter fits on the outside of the frame. I installed both a blu ox adapter and a warn winch plate at the same time. I did have to modify the skid plate to fit around the adapter.

Wow... I was told it mounted on the inside... oh well. I guess you always have to do your own research

Got any finished pictures of the Demco base plate installed? I assume you bought adapters to make it work with the Roadmaster tow bar? So many options...
