I will be purchasing a 2018 Rubicon JLU soon. I wanted to give Jeep more time to fix the frame weld issue.
However, I went to a dealer in Northern Ca to test drive and weigh and Rubicon JLU close to the spec I will order as I will be towing mine behind a Fleetwood Bounder 35H RV which can tow 5,000 lbs.
The Rubicon I weighed at the Cat Scales in Martinez Ca was fully loaded with the exception of the steel bumper group.
The Jeep weighed in at 4,520 lbs.
On another note, the same dealer had a used 2017 Jeep JK Rubicon Recon that caught my eye. That one weighed in at 4,360 lbs.
At the end of the day, the JL feels better in just about every way imaginable.
Anyway, for those who flat tow, I thought you might be interested.
Also, the dealer told me I could not order the Ocean Blue Metallic as of yet. I think he is incorrect on that, but that is what he told me.
