I guess it is all moot considering Toyotas new engine options which all sound terrible on paper at least.

Hard to see Toyota having this new, much cheaper Land Cruiser and a 4Runner and also a new FJ.

Wouldn’t that be slicing things awfully thin?

My Guess if this does make to production, it would be smaller than a wrangler/bronco. Maybe an actual compact off roader?

Or who knows, maybe that silhouette is the new revolutionary design for the 4Runner (highly unlikely)...

That's what's confusing me, mainly in regards to the 4Runner and Land Cruiser pricing though since I believe the FJ will be an EV. I figured the Land Cruiser would fit more as a parallel to the Sequoia TRD than the 4Runner...that being said, I just want the new 70 series diesel going to Japan :(

Looks a little Renegade-ish to me.

Jeep Wrangler JL FJ Cruiser is back?! Toyota_Compact_Cruiser_EV_SUV_Concept_9

Though this is from last year so the finished product may be better.

Yeah and an engine instead of a motor…?. Build a diesel or gas model and I’m in. Otherwise….

As much as I agree with you, you know they won't do that unfortunately.

Light reading about rumored engine options for the 4Runner which an FJ would probably share if it's not BEV reveals a 2.4 turbo good for 275hp/317 ft-lb, or a hybrid 2.4 turbo at 340hp/400 ft-lb ,possible 3.4 hybrid good for 437hp/538 ft-lb like used in the trucks.

Heck yeah...those are some good numbers.

What makes the new engine options sound terrible to you? Every Land Cruiser will be powered by a 2.4L 4 cylinder turbo hybrid with 326 hp and 465 lb/ft, capable of towing 6,000 lbs. On paper, to me, those seem like good numbers and I'm expecting good fuel economy numbers to go along with it. With the added complexity I do wonder about reliability and even with Toyota I take a time will tell approach on it, but other than that complexity I'm not immediately seeing cause for concern on this engine.
