I got an entire new fob. I believe AJT designs is the name. No more key problem.
Are those a new, smaller "shell" to put the guts of the existing FOB into? I assume the key part does not transfer. If that is so, do you just carry the key separately?

The fob from Amazon covers the existing fob like a glove, no alterations needed, and looks great. Even a cut out so Jeep logo shows through.

I just got a dope man bag thing, phone, wallet, keys, snacks, water, knife, and some other essential medications stay in it, it goes wherever I go, havn't had to take out my key since I bought my jeep, I also don't lock the doors so there is that.

I'm continually confused by putting things OVER the giant fob, taking it from giant to ginormous, but whatever floats your boat.

I've said it in the other threads, but I took mine apart, rigged the spring so it doesn't make the key pop open when the button is depressed, and reassembled.

I bought my JL in April '19 so I'm basically at 1 year of ownership and the number of times I've needed the actual key or regretted doing this: ZERO

I had a bunch of O-rings and found the perfect size. Super glued it to the fob. Perfect! Thanks!

Detensioning the spring works great and does not interfere with the actual use of the key, for those of us with a sport. 1.5 years since I did mine with 0 opens in the pocket.

....I took mine apart, rigged the spring so it doesn't make the key pop open when the button is depressed, and reassembled.....
I did the same thing. By "rigged" all you have to do us release the tension on the spring (remove and reinstall), then put it back together. Very easy, and reversible if you later decide you want it spring loaded again.
With this method the key is still easily accessible/usable, but it won't flip out in your pocket. You press the release button and flick your wrist to swing the key out. No more pocket deployment, no bulky add-on, no inconvenience in using the key.
FWIW, I use my key quite a bit to lock the console and/or glove box, so I wanted to be able to use the key without extra effort, but I also hated the key opening in my pocket.

The new fob is about the same length but not as wide as the original fob. There is a built in slot for the key so I can still use it for the glove box/console. Pictures below. There are also a million different color combos for the fob(AJT Designs).
