We saw some rentals that were going the opposite way around Bullet point 32-36. Guess they back tracked so they didn’t have to do the end.
That was super stressful for me. I made my husband drive down that last bit. I was a nervous wreck. I was in over my head on that part.
Well we left utah headed to Wyoming to do monument ridge and then Montana to do black tail wild bill. Those two will be a piece of cake. Wish they had something in North Dakota. Then trailing back to Indiana 😞
I just checked TrailsOffRoad (zilch for ND) and OnX. OnX shows a couple commercial spots (Medora and Kimall Bottoms) along with Missouri Grasslands. Yeah, pretty slim pickings.

Don't forget to pay attention to the collection of wildfires in Montana.

You literally just described my wife and I. She got to the point where it was going down a $hitty waterfall of rocks and she is like I just can't anymore.
Technically those other people didn't backtrack. Going left at that waypoint takes you to the staircase exit which you can bypass and then simply go out the way you came in. Much more fun and WAAAAAY less stressful and ball breaking. When we did that crappy exit the first time we had already been out for over 8 hours running trails, it was dark AF and we still had to drive 45 mins to La Sal mountains where we were staying. Long day lol.

Yea very slim pickings. I think we will take a long weekend from work and hit Missouri one weekend as it’s only roughly 9hrs from us. We haven’t been east at all so maybe next year we will do that. I’ve had an absolute blast these last 8days. And we have another 8more which are much more relaxed. I’ve learned a lot! And I’ve learned to trust my Jeep, she’s hasn’t let me down yet! ♥

Yea that’s rough. I’m not familiar with the area. So I had absolutely no clue what lead to where I saw the staircase exit on the map, but never saw it in real life.
We didn’t the stair case and I was like fuck no!! My hubby grab a video of that bit from inside the jeep! But it never looks as bad as it does in Real life. 🥴
Looking back at all the photos we took and I was like shit, that all looks easy 😓

I know EXACTLY where this photo was taken... lol. This is the spot where we had to turn the headlights off so I wasn't blinded and I guided my wife right down that in the dark. We turned right after this and she was like "I'm done"... lol.

This feeling is real! You're driving down some of this and your ass is off the seat and your chest on the shoulder belt feels like the only thing keeping you from diving out the windshield...

Your spotters down there like "Just drive down the hill, what are you waiting for?"

We missed each other by a few weeks. Fins and HR were both empty for us as well.

if you are coming to Montana the best trail is not wild bill. Wild bill has some decent man made obstacles but kind of a boring trail. If you want to do one that is scenic and challenging Fisher lake is worth your time.

On our way to Montana, and we have 3 extra buffer days before we need to be in Fargo ND for Drekker brewery July 24. Decided tomorrow we will head to Tillamook Oregon to get those badges. However 10mins from our Montana hotel started to get a flashing diff locker light on the dash; as well as the rear axle light flashing by the locker switch. Did some reading and the likely cause is a rear locker sensor. Let me know if anyone has had this issue and knows a “trail fix” as we are still quite a ways from home (Indiana)

(Hubby and ordered and built this jeep! We did all our own upgrades in our shop. 16k miles 2022 rubicon )

Check the fuse panel under the hood. Open it up and see that all the fuses and relays are properly seated. Relays (black and gray boxes) especially. Don't just eyeball them, but physically check and push them in.

No guarantees, but it's happened to me after the last rocky trail I did, and sometimes they come loose on highway bumps. Kind of a pain.

Pretty bummed right now. The lockers are still flashing. And we are nervous after reading that if you engage the rear locks they could get stuck in there since the sensor is failing. And we don’t want to drive it all the way way back with rear lockers engaged

Heads up the Tillamook trail is burned out. We had traveled through there last year and were going to do it and apparently it sucks now. It used to be a beautiful forest trail and then a wild fire trashed it years ago.
In terms of the rear locker I would unplug the wire back at the rear diff while you are on the road traveling. That way it can't engage on it's own and make you sad (like it did to me). Then plug it in if you think you will need it on a trail.

Your Jeep is more than capable of at least 90% of the trails around Moab.

Correct that is why I said to unplug the harness back at the diff. There will be no power to the locker and it will disengage. I had the same thing happen on my other Jeep.

The Tillamook trails were pretty easy. As others have said, just unplug it. You shouldn't need lockers out there. Easy fix is the tazer bypass harness if you have access to shipping one somewhere.
