I've spent about a year building my Jeep ourselves and am finally headed out west. My husband and I are traveling from northern Indiana and are stopping in CO to meet up with his mom and her boyfriend to do some wheeling. They have done and are taking us to do Oray, Imogene and Ophir knowing that they are pretty simple ones. They have a pretty stock Jeep and have done those trails. Here is my question, we want to try Fins and things and poison spider. But they won’t go into Utah being pretty stock. I have watched countless of YT videos of poison spider and fins and things. But since this is our first trip wheeling are those two BOH trails okay for semi beginners doing it alone. We have done some ATV stuff and my husband is really knowledgeable about jeeping and how gravity/math works lol. I know things look way different in YT video then actually doing it. Didn’t know if there were obstacles that you have to do or you can choose to go around.
Thank you!

Edit:
We leave Indiana July 11th.. will be in CO july 13-17 and will be in Utah july 18-21, from there we will go to Monument Ridge Wyoming 22-23 then travel back home..
SO if anybody is around Moab july 19-21 and want to do some jeeping at l fins and things and poison spider let me know :) Not sure I'm ready for hells revenge.

Yeah, from where I'm sitting, that's a seriously stout looking Rubi... Just make sure you have communications if you're hitting ANY trails alone. Cell phones can be often spotty, same with GMRS and CB's. But, if you have options, you lessen the chance of getting stuck in the great wide open outdoors. Good luck, and have a blast!!

we have a bunch of recovery gear just encase.. I'm not to worried about my jeep making it as much as how tough the trails are.. videos don't do that justice.. we do a lot of mountain biking and the YT video always make it look so simple

You are doing RIGHT. Moab is a Jeepers dream. In Moab you have trials that run form 1 - 10

Have fun!

Let the carnage begin! Buggy territory. Street driven 4X4’s should not attempt this trail. Modified factory vehicles will not be able to complete this trail.

Yeah, you two will have a blast. Just be patient. If you have any doubts on obstacles, an alterative route around it is absolutely acceptable. Just have fun, enjoy every mile, and take a ton of pics and vids to go back and reflect on. A chance to reflect and smile all over again. :)

I did Fins and things in stock Rubi with 33's. I can tell you that it was considerably more steep than videos show. That said it was a blast and your jeep will impress. I would not recommend doing the transition between the two sides of Fins and Things. It is really rough and can be by passed. Take the bypass! Enjoy the ride.

Fins and things will be easy and always a lot of people running it. Poison spider has dome difficult sections but if you get past the gate keeper at the start you won’t have any problems.

The second part is soooo much fun! It has a lot of the feel of Hell's Revenge and shouldn't be skipped unless absolutely necessary.

Awesome. Thanks for the advice. Yea I’m sure it’s way more steep than it looks. But as we speak i just got my metal cloak skid plates in. Didn’t think they would be in on time. So tomorrow that’s gonna be a day to put it on. That will put a lot of my worries to rest about it rocks.

Consider waiting at the trailhead and latching onto someone else that's doing it. Just chat with others while airing down :)
Is that totally acceptable? I haven’t done anything like this before. Didn’t know if that was frown on. We leave next week.

IME, YouTube videos are nearly always dramatised. Almost always easier then they make it look.

Amen. I have watched videos and thought on earth do they make it look so hard when it was not nearly that difficult. I can not think of anything on fins and things that would pose any problems fir a rubi on 35’s. I just got back and did poison spider, f&t, top of the world snd elephant hill and only scraped rear control arm skids a time or two.

Drama = Eyeballs = Advertisers = Algorithm Promotion.

A lot of creators go the path of attention gimmicks rather than providing substantive content to drive views. They’re playing the game that the algorithms reward. Can’t blame’em even though I despise it.

You just chat with them at the trailhead. They'll either be welcoming or not. Just avoid the ATV crowd.
