First time in sand. Silver Lake dunes MI

That's interesting and makes a heck of a lot of sense to run your whip flag on the front bumper because you will see it as you come up and crest a dune. Around here everyone runs them in the back.

It is required to be on the front of a vehicle. ATV and dirt bike can put them on the back.

you do. You can buy them right at the entrance to the dunes. Also make sure you have a way to mount it. They also sell mounts. You will need the tools to put it on.

Once on your bumper you will be good to go.

the question was what is the height requirement of the whip for the dunes? At this time it is a moot point due to the fact I cannot get one before I leave.

There is only one type of flag required for the Dunes. All 4-wheel drive vehicles must display the flag mounted to front bumper at 10ft off the ground. All motorbikes and ATVs must display the flag mounted to the rear at 10ft off the ground.

I bought mine there last July. They have the tools to mount it you can use and they also have better flag poles. Been looking for one since mine got destroyed by my granddaughter on her 4wheeler, but can't find anything close to their quality,.

Stupid question, what's the protocol if you do get stuck? Just hook your recovery rope up and wait until somebody drives by and asks if you need a tug?

Well I will be headed that way Thursday, have never been out on the dunes in a Jeep and never at SLSD, so it will be a new experience. If I get stuck, I will let you know how it goes. LoL, anyone else heading up there?
