My 96 TransAm got 30+ mpg in 6th gear. That made me a huge fan of higher gear options and one of the main reasons I'm not going for a 4runner with the 5 speed. They're so shockingly behind now. "If it aint broke don't fix it" well, "if it and updated I won't buy it," as much as I love Toyota. The 4runner still has a 5-gear on a 4L v6. 17mpg.Thank you for sharing @DanW! I was expecting the 6-speed to be very good, but it's certainly good to know as fact now!
Nearly 20MPG straight from the factory, for a rubi no less is very nice. Easy +1 MPG after break in. Was it all highway at 70 MPH?
Say what you will about modern vehicles, but its great at that manuals and autos are so much better than they used to be.
