Today I finally got the opportunity to take my rig off-roading here in Indiana for the first time. Spent the day at Kessie’s Jeep Farm in South Whitley and got to wheel their 31 acres of trails. First was their “off-roading 101” course where the property owners reviewed safety, off-roading and recovery techniques. A lot of experience between Tom, Greg and Zach, and they did a fantastic job bringing us newbies up to speed. Eventually we got out on the trails and had a blast. Within the first 5 minutes we got to navigate some very hilly terrain with plenty of mud and tree obstacles and I knew I was hooked for life. What a fun experience. My kids had a blast. Later in the day I ended up getting stuck in some deeper mud on the backside of the property. They were kind enough to hook my rear recovery point to their new Gladiator truck and help me back out. Overall got to learn a lot today about 4H vs 4L, Lockers, Sway Bar disconnect, hill assist, and most importantly, the overall feel of off-roading. So happy for this opportunity and cannot wait to get back out there. Next stop...Silver Lake Sand Dunes

My stock Rubicon handled everything extremely well. Detaching the sway bar made such a difference, and I finally got use to the sequence of steps needed to toss it into 4L. My favorite feature surprisingly ended up being the hill assist. Being able to slowly take steeply declining hills without riding the brake was instantly gratifying and made a huge difference as far as control goes. I can’t wait for future opportunities to try this out on bigger hills. Need to get out of Indiana for that I am sure.

Assuming auto, your Rubi won't ever give you 1st in 4L - you'll need to select it manually
