Hey all,

My Jeep is a 3rd vehicle and I’ll probably only put 3-4K miles on it a year. I bought it a few months ago and am still under 800 miles. When will Jeep allow for the first oil change? Is it 1yr or 5K miles.. whatever comes sooner?

Does Jeep publish anything official on this for their free Jeep maintenance program?

There isn’t a restriction. I am a low mileage driver as well and they didn’t ask any questions. They just said I get 3 free ones.

I always change the oil early for the first change after taking delivery of a new vehicle. I know you may not need to but I'd rather do it that way. Never had the dealership tell me I couldn't spend my money or free oil changes.

My manual says 12 months or 12,000k which ever comes first
Therefore you should get it changed after 12 months.

Note that oil degrades over time. So if you don't use it you have to change it anyway and the manual says 12 months so 12 months is is!

My Jeep is also a low mileage driver.

I did the first oil change at 500 miles. After that, once a year. I have about 3,500 miles on my 2017 3.6L
