without the water cooling oil selection is even more critical for turbo health or not. typically OE turbos are sized for better response + low end torque, but with direct injection aggressive tuning is possible without pinging!

I have not found that information yet or how much boost it makes.

OE's are cheap so no ball bearings + prolly no more than 10 lb boost for reliability. only performance minded models see higher boost. my 01 jetta showed 7 lb stock on the gauge i installed the 01 WRX i tested showed 15 on its factory gauge but very doggy at lower rpm's to protect their AWD. todays DI turbo'd engines can boost sooner + faster as well as more without spark knock, IF the ECU lets it. you can "cheat" to get more boost but without proper fueling your engine can be ruined! of course any modifications will likely void your warranty

Apparently it makes 24psi.

I would bet it is more than 10 psi.

If you go by the theory that each atmosphere (14.7 psi) roughly doubles the power output, 10 psi would mean that a without the turbo the 2.0L would make about 150-160 ft.lb. or torque. 80 ft.lb. per liter would put this motor near the top of all motors ever. I would bet that the boost is closer to 25 psi for such a small motor to make 270 ft.lb. of torque.
