The DEF tank doesn't have a traditional float style gauge like a fuel tank. The tank just has a few optical sensors it reads are various levels and guess in between those sensors based on your usage. That is why it won't move for days or after filling.

Note - if you live in cold climates DO NOT fill the tank to the top. The tank is 5.2 gallons to allow for expansion if your DEF freezes. In fact, it's better to keep it at half tank so the DEF heater doesn't have to work as hard.

DEF freezes at 12 degrees Fahrenheit. Your Jeep has two DEF heating elements, one is in the tank and one is wrapped around the feedline. This is how you are able to operate your vehicle in the cold.
