When you are off-roading especially out west during the summer and early fall, please keep fire safety and evacuation routes in mind. A fire just popped off west of the entrance to the Rubicon Trail.
As of 3pm the Fork Fire was getting winds from the east but could easily shift west and run through the Rubicon Trail. Burning ~100 acres an hour right now and is near where the devastating 2014 King Fire stopped. Being on a track like the Rubicon with nowhere to go and no way to get out quickly could be a disaster. Stay safe out there everyone.
Per Forest Service Twitter: 9/8/2020 1:17pm The Fork fire is 100 ac w/ significant growth potential. Located off Wentworth Springs Rd. and the Gerle Creek access. E. of Gerle Creek, S. of South Creek Rd. Evacuations are in place for Loon Lake, Gerle Creek and Rubicon trail areas
