Sounds about right. Your sport numbers were on the low end so your driving style is probably a big cause of it.

Be very easy on the gas pedal and youll get a little better MPG.

I have the same build (color and everything) minus the cold air intake, but same engine/transmission. I'm at 1300 miles after a month of use, I'd say it was roughly 600 miles highway (coming back from Tennessee), 60 miles off-road and the rest city.

I'm at 19 mpg, 87 Octane. I also have roof racks.

My 21 JLUR has also always had about 14MPG average. Half street half highway and I rarely drive in rush hour traffic. I never understood how other rubicon owners get numbers like 17-18 city and 21-22 highway. I’ve never seen above 18, maybe 19 on the highway. And it never changed with mileage and my odo is now at 8k. I didn’t even see any noticeable difference going from the stock 285/70r17s to 315/70r17. I still average around 14MPG and 18-19 on the highway abd I still see 8th gear all the time on the freeways.

Congratulations on the new ride, is that a 21 or a 22 and if so which gears did you get 4.10 or 4.88's as one will definitely lower you mpg.

Your Jeep should get better mileage after it breaks.

Regards,
Jim
I feel that if it's broken it will get WORSE fuel economy.

My 2020 Challenger got 16mpg new, now almost 22mpg after about 3000-5000 miles.

Jim

Oh and yes to the OP aka FknMeow - Congrats on the new Rubi!! Woot Woot!
No, I'm talking about the OP's previous 2 door Sport that he had before the new 4 door Rubicon.

Don't worry Ken, your JLR has very beefy tires! It's a JURASSIC BEAST! :like:

Same as everyone else mostly. I get anywhere from 15-16 all city to 18-21 highway. I will say that driving style is a huge factor in MPG with this vehicle. I can get 2-3 MPG better if I drive 65ish vs 75ish on the highway. The thing is a block, high off the ground; aerodynamics are not its friend.

I've had a Rubicon Unlimited for 2 years with a 3.6 automatic and have never seen 18. Not once. I actually went down to 12.5 after putting on heavy 35 x 12.5 inch Nittos. After re-calibration I'm touching 16, so I'm pretty happy with that.

21 JLUR, Hard top, plastic bumper, 3.6 engine, 2.5 inch RK lift and K02 C rated 37s. I get almost 18mpg on the highway when I drive speed limit (65-70mph), closer to 17 if I push it 70-75. Drops to 15 or so when on the street. However, I'm never on the street long enough to see how low it would really drop to give a good assessment of the true street MPG.

To be fair, I will admit that I have people tell me things like "Dude, you're not in Iraq anymore. You don't need to drive like a maniac."...all the time.

Perhaps if I stopped driving it like a Humvee, I'd do a lot better. But then again, there's more to life than gas mileage, right?

Anyways, thanks for all the info, I appreciate it. I just wanted to make sure that the thing wasn't messed up or something 😂

-Both are/were 6spd Manual with the 3.6 pentastar. I was getting 17-18 city and 21-22 highway with the sport. This Rubi is 13-14 city, and highway is substantially lower too, but I don't have an exact number yet as Ive only had it for a couple of days. Is this normal?
You are driving a vehicle that is ˜15% heavier, has ˜20% lower gearing, ˜10% wider/bigger/heavier tires, and you are reporting 20-25% worse fuel economy.

Yes - I'd say that is about right.

I get 13-16 on my 2.0T/A8/37s/JLUR. Depending if I'm driving like a human being or a Tasmanian Devil.
