That surprises me actually. Following you guys through the car world I would have thought the turbo motor, was it not available then or did you specifically choose the v6 for a reason? Thanks!
I have owned several Wranglers in my life time and one mistake I have made with my previous JK's is buying a vehicle with an unproven powertrain.

The pentastar V6 has proven itself to be reliable and makes more than enough power. The new Turbo motor is new for the Jeep and it's better to wait a few years until Jeep works out any kinks. I really wanted the Diesel motor anyways but that seems to be having some issues being released at the moment.

A couple weeks back, Mark Krumme from Eibach and myself headed out from Big Bear Lake at 8am and started on the trail doing multiple Black Diamond routes. We didn't end up getting off the trail until a bit after 5pm right near Pioneer Town out by Joshua Tree. We met a couple Jeeps along the way including another stock JL Rubicon.

We also ran into a group of brand new Range Rover Discovery's, completely stock, that were trying to get up a Black Diamond trail. Took us a couple hours but we were eventually able to get them unstuck, prevented some bad roll over situations and escorted them safely back to a normal fire road.

Always make sure you have recovery gear on your rig so that you can help out your fellow wheelers if need be! For me it is always a great experience and challenge when a recovery situation comes up. Trying to think on your toes and figure out the puzzel is challenging yet rewarding, and also a great way to make some friends!

After that situation we had a couple guys follow us off the trail and sat down all together at Pappy & Harriets for some grub.

Thinking about creating some fifteen52 Trail Cards. I will have these on the rig when my friends and I hit the trails and if you run into me on the trail you can snag one of these cards for an exclusive discount off a set of wheels!

Great looking Jeep! I’m new to Jeep (just got a JL Rubicon) and live in L.A. was thinking of heading up to Big Bear to hit the trails... what are the best trails to hit up there and is there a resource that has maps of where to go? Thanks!

There are dozens and dozens of trails up in that area. I would recommend going out with a group of experienced offroaders your first time out which there are many groups out here that organize trail runs. You can also download the jeep offroad app that will show you a lot of trails in the area and provides trail maps. There are also many aftermarket trail GPS systems out there that have many popular and low key trails pre programmed so you don't get lost or venture down a hiking trail.

Headed out with Eibach to explore 3N24 out near Cleghorn / San Bernadino area this past sunday. Due to the recent rain storms in southern California, we were able to get some pretty awesome shots. Enjoy!

UPDATE!

Jon here. Been adding a lot of new mods to our rig lately.

First up is WARN 's new Elite Stubby front steel bumper for the JL. This was also paired with their Zeon 10-S Platinum winch and Epic shackles.

We also received one of the first production WARN Elite Rear steel bumper for JL as well as our long awaiting Gobi stealth rack. (more photos of those soon)

Lastly we also equipped our Jeep with a Dometic CFX-40 cooler to keep our food and drinks cold while on adventures!

Turbomac HD Classics in 17'' JL fitment were also released and are currently in stock and ready to ship! We are running a promotion till the end of the month which includes FREE SHIPPING on all orders as well as special discounts for fellow JLwrangler Forum members.

Send me a DM for more info, or if you have any questions :)

We finally got our GOBI rack installed and also installed WARN's new Elite Rear Bumper. We will be adding WARN's tire carrier this week.

Went on a couple trips up in Joshua Tree and the Alabama Hills.

Also took some shots of our JLU on a set of our 17'' Turbomac HD Classics for Jeep! Enjoy :)

First thing we have done with our JL Rubicon build is outfit it with our all new Turbomac HD wheel.

We wrapped these with a set of 37'' Mud Terrain tires thanks to our friends over at Toyo Tires.

In order to gain some extra clearance we went with the Mopar 2'' lift kit featuring the 2.5 Fox Factory shocks. We did have some issues with the design of the Mopar kit when it came to the springs. Even though this was an updated part number kit that was suppose to fix the original spring bow, we still had some excessive bowing of the spring. So we took the JL over to our friends at Eibach who replaced the front spring perchs and all four springs with a much more robust and straight set of their Pro Truck lift springs which feel much better on and off the road and do not have that nerve racking bow to them either.

Wheels:

17x8.5 et0 5x127
finish: Asphalt Black

Tires:

Toyo Tires Open Country M/T
37/12.5/r17

Suspension:

Fox 2.5 shocks

Eibach Pro Truck springs and spring perches

They are a 71.5 center bore so same sizing as a JL and JK. This fitment was designed to bolt right up to the newer Wranglers :)

The Gobi is definitely worth the long wait! I had forgotten about it for a few months haha. Thank you for the compliments. Love your Hella Yella build!

We will be hosting a trail run near Big Bear for fifteen52 customer rigs soon! Will keep you updated :)
