Since the Ferrari F160 engine is loosely based on the Pentastar, has anyone ever attempted this swap?
I think they refer to the block design. From what I remember, the heads are different because the 3.6 has integrated headers. Even if things mechanically lined up, the sensors need to talk to the ECU. Even if all of those did line up, it's a very expensive way to get 430HP. Even the JK generation superchargers for the 3.6 made that or more at the crank and all you needed was a Sunday to put the supercharger on, and another one to put it back to stock.

Now if you're talking about putting in a VR38DETT... when doesn't it make sense to put that engine in to anything :muscle:

See if you can get your hands on a head gasket for both motors. If they line up/same part number, head swap with the turbos and you're mostly there.
Before anyone gets all excited, the two engines are completely different. The Ferrari is a 3 liter and ours is a 3.6. Not even the bore sizes match. Even if they did, why should the bolts match?

If they did match, it might be worth investigating. I was just stating the cheapest/easiest way to tell if its worth investigating at all.
Isn't it cheaper and faster to check the bore size?

Even if they matched, you can get mid to high-400 horsepower by putting on a turbo or a supercharger on a stock Pentastar using a bolt on kit.

I'm all for engine swaps but the two in question are too similar in principles to be an interesting swap and too different in implementation to be worth doing.

If you want to swap the Pentastar out for a GTR engine or a even some obscure stream engine or a jet turbine and it's worth the talk.

How about a V10? https://www.thedrive.com/sheetmetal/17292/this-jeep-wrangler-has-viper-srt-10-power

This isn't about being cheap, it's about the possibility of a modern Jerrari: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerrari
All of those engines are far far far more interesting than the F160 cousin which to me is even below the 3.6 Pentastar in desirability because it only makes a boring 330-430 HP with turbos and revs are only good for 5500 rpm. Even our 3.6 Pentastar redlines at 6500.

It bugs me when articles are written by people that don't really know what they are talking about and publish incorrect facts out. That isn't a 600 hp engine that was detuned to 500 hp. That is a Gen III viper engine which was rated from 500-510 hp depending on the year. The 600+ engines are a different displacement and from later generations.
I agree, the article is not as accurate as it could have been, and the author doesn't really seem to be a car nut.

I was mostly interested with the photos, as they are worth +/- 1000 words each.

For what it's worth it's also the same block that is in the Benz C43 AMGs, same 3.0 block. It's a shame FCA never followed through with their plans to turbo the motor, it was designed to take boost.
