That's not a bad thing. Though, they do also have a controlling stake in Nissan and Mitsubishi, the latter making a very robust and reliable diesel drive train.
Nissan.. not so much.
They also own Lada. So many the next Wrangler would just be a re-badged Lada Niva :like:

Two things I saw that run contrary to any good deal. (1), France (the government) is the largest share holder in Renault. When has it ever been an ideal situation for a Government (politicians) to ever be involved in private business? And (2) FCA said no plants would be closed when the merger was completed. Now that right there is funny I don't care who you are. :)

French Unions, 15% ownership of Renault by government, demands for cradle to grave jobs, FCA backed out just in time. That would've been the Kiss of Death for the Jeep brand.
They need to look at the Dowry much more carefully in any future " Marriage".
