Is FCA testing a radical raw Wrangler model?!

Jeep engineers were just spotted testing this radical, raw JL Wrangler set-up as an extreme, open-air rock crawler, on the company’s Auburn Hills Test Track.

Just a guess, but I'm thinking that's probably someone at Jeep's personal ride that they took to the test track for some fun and/or diagnostics.

I could be totally wrong though.

Possible, but if someone was going to spend their personal money on a custom cage and coil overs, I'd think they'd at least go to a larger tire as well. Also looks like the passenger is data logging something.

Man those rear coilover mounts are pretty low.

My guess is its some level of testing of the hybrid for offroad applications because even though it has a fuel cell, that "brick" up front doesnt look like a standard radiator.

Possibly a concept/exhibit for next year's Easter Jeep Safari? Timeline wise, I would assume those take months of planning and implementation, especially with custom parts needed to be machined for the one off builds.

That's funny. The Bronco won't be able to compete with the standard Rubicon from the intel that is out.

I wonder if we aren't seeing a prototype of Jeep testing the market for a non street legal Wrangler. Perhaps they are trying to protect their trademark against Mahindra by directly competing against it in that market.
