So I just received the 645 page 2019 JL owners manual in the mail. Included was an addendum card re the 2.0L fuel requirements. While nothing has changed with regards to the ability to use 87 octane, the use of 91 octane for "optimal performance" has been clarified as follows. "This increase in performance is most noticeable in hot weather or other heavier load conditions, such as while towing".

I guess this means the performance gain with premium is marginal in winter. Thus you can use regular in winter and save money. Only pay the extra for premium in the summer should you wish a little extra power on the highway and the trails.

You purchased a Jeep for fuel economy? I have had cars that would pass anything but a gas station and demanded premium. Take your fun and pay for it

I'm a rebel. I run 93 in mine. What is another $4.00 per fill up over 87? If we could run e85 in these ...I'd be in true love. My choices are 87; 89 and 93 in my area.

How did you order the owner's manual? What did it cost?
Phone FCA and ask for it. They ask for your VIN and will send one copy to the original owner.

No I did not. Just saying you can run regular for half the year if you wish with no appreciable power loss.

Just saying we don't have to stick to premium all year to achieve optimal power gain.

Next time I won't bother to share any intriguing info I find.

I’m sure e85 would be a blast with the 2.0. I ran e85 for a short time in my tuned Focus ST. With support mods, it put down more than 350 foot pounds of torque to the wheels.

I have an EVO X, and the guys running E85 are putting up some impressive numbers.

I assume you are using regular now, if I may ask...what are you getting in gas mileage? I'm averaging about 18 with 91 in my 2-door.

Just got it a couple weeks ago, filled it with premium, and haven't had much opportunity to drive it since (mostly because I'm in Canada and want to avoid the salt until we hit spring). On a slow 250 mile highway drive to bring it home after delivery I was getting 22 - 23.5 mpg. City is more like 18 or 19 mpg. And that's babying it. Mine is a Rubicon so I believe the gearing brings the mpg down. I'll experiment with premium vs regular and the butt dyno when it warms up. Based on this addendum I'll bet both octanes will probably feel the same. The 2.0L will earn its merit from the turbo and the assist provided by the Etorque.
