Received notice today of recall V78 affecting 544 vehicles. VIN list attached.

https://www.productsafety.gov.au/recall/fca-australia-pty-ltd-jeep-jl-wrangler-my2018-2019

What are the defects?
The transmission harness may have insufficient clearance to the catalytic converter.

What are the hazards?
If the battery cable contacts the catalytic converter this could result in the following:

1. potentially causing a vehicle fire
2. disabling safety systems leading to an engine stall

This could result in a crash without warning, increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants and other road users.

Don't worry... no Jeep owner stays long without getting invited to a recall party ;)

PS: Still wouldn't go to any other SUV unless they make a soft top Patrol or a Cruiser... they better not be diesel either.

I knew I’d be in for a recall with a Jeep, but 2 days after pick up made me laugh. I have MY20 so maybe not on the list anyway.

Looking at the numbers, I am guessing pre March 2019.
Also, if just the proximity to the catalytic converter this is for petrol models only.
Mine is not on the list.

I booked mine in yesterday, they say it’s only a 30 min fix ....

I too received the notice. By coincidence, my first service is due in mid July so have arranged to get this looked at too. Note the notice says "may".

Yes I did last week, ended up doing the 12K maintenance as well. I've asked Jeep to check my transfer case, as I've noticed an oil leak coming from there, they've found the rear crankshaft seal was leaking... glad I've mentioned it otherwise the damage could be far greater... all repaired under warranty.
