Looking into getting a nice battery powered impact wrench for when i'm off-roading and adventuring longer distance as well as when I don't have or want air tools. I am a Milwaukee die-hard and have 6 other of their tools so I am sticking with them, but do you think I should opt for the High Torque model or the Mid Torque model?

High Torque Specs ($449, one battery)
1400 ft-lbs Breaking
1000 ft-lbs Fastening
7.5 lbs
8.39" length

Mid Torque Specs ($399, two batteries)
600 ft-lbs breaking
450 ft-lbs Fastening
5.3 lbs
6.7" length

I got this from Dewalt to compare specs it removed the ultra hig( torque lower control arm bolts and 130 ft lb lugs are easy peasy

I'm also a big Milwaukee fan. While I usually like to go big, it sounds like even the Mid Torque option is overkill and would probably be better. torque specs seem already a bit high, it's $50 cheaper, and it comes with an extra battery. seems like a win-win-win.

Milwaukee fan here too! I went with the Mid-torque model and it has been plenty for my uses. It has installed several lifts on multiple vehicles and generally stays in the jeep just in case.

Is the "mid torque" model significantly smaller and lighter?

If you are actually gonna use it for wrenching and not building a deck, a full-size impact is not going to fit in many places around your Jeep. I’ve got an 8-year old 1/2” impact from Ryobi that I use mainly for lug nuts and it will fit under there to get on control arm bolts and lower shock bolts.

But my favorite tool for wrenching is the battery powered 3/8” ratchet that Milwaukee makes. Last I checked, Milwaukee was the only box-store brand that makes these and they make more mechanic’s tools than the other brands as well. This thing is awesome. Occasionally you will need a breaker bar to get it going first but it saves a ton of time and fits almost everywhere I need it to. Just replaced suspension on a Tacoma a couple of weeks ago and it did everything besides lug nuts. Only needed a breaker bar on control arm bolts and shock mount bolts.

I agree on the full size impact not fitting in many places. My mid torque dewalt is perfect size and torques down to more than I want it to sometimes. I'm very happy with it.

High torque all the way. As you have the kit and must have extra batteries. But the extra torque makes life easy. I have it, I love it, I wouldnt change it for a mid torque. Ive seen please to roll bar mounts for them. Looks awesome and is always accessible

I have this. Great tool. Just used it to add the Roam side steps.

I was in this dilemma few months back. Ultimately I decided the DEWALT DCF894HB 20V MAX XR 1/2 in. Mid-Range fit my needs. The big boy wouldn’t fit anywhere I needed it. This one I can get caliper bolts, suspension etc without issue and it has way more power than I need for 98% of projects. I will eventually have a big boy as well for when I need it but it’s a luxury at this point.
