What’s your favorite tire that works well off road as a daily use tire?

BFG KO2 are pretty good all around, but they load up with small rocks and don't eject them until you speed up a lot. They also run pretty small for their stated size. However, they are the only close to 35" I know of in a C load range. I would pick in an aggressive/hybrid AT:

Falken Wildpeak AT3W
Nitto Ridge Grappler

and in fairly well behaved mud terrain:

Cooper STT Pro
Dick Cepek Extreme Country (made by Cooper)

I ordered the Extreme Country for mine. They come in a D load range. Of course you didn't say what kind of conditions you plan on off roading in, which should definitely affect your choice.

I've owned most all of them: BFG KO2, WildPeak AT3W, WildPeak M/T, Duratracs, Nitto, etc. I'm giving the Milestar Patagonia MT tires a go, and I'm quite impressed with them. I think they are the quietest MT tires I've had on the road. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of them.

Two questions, phatjoe.

!. Bullmastiff or English Mastiff? I had an English Mastiff years ago, our Mr. Holmes. He was a great dog and companion.
2. Since you have experience with a lot of brands, I'd appreciate your opinion on the Duratracs and Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I have my choice narrowed down to those two. I've read a few negative comments regarding the Duratracs being noisy which concerns me a bit. What is your opinion of the two? I want something that is respectably capable off-road, but since I do a fair amount of highway driving with family members, I don't want tires that give a harsh ride or noticeably loud. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm also very interested in this feedback, I'm leaning more toward Duratrac because they are lighter in comparison and have more positive reviews all around about them.

He's a bullmastiff . :)

If road noise is a concern, I'd give a slight advantage to the Nitto Ridge Grapplers. It's a great tire, durable, meaty looking, etc.

My buddy has the Nitto's on his F150 and loves them.

Thanks very much for your opinion, amigo. You've made up my mind for me!

I kind of thought that. He's a handsome boy!

@phatjoe , the Patagonia's are they AT quiet? Do you hear the hum with the windows up or no.
Funny, just this weekend my wife made a comment to me on how quiet the jeep is...
I'd say they are damn close with being as quiet as an A/T tire...I know...it's a bold statement, but I'm very impressed with them.
For all my future truck builds, these tires make my short list.

I had Duratracs on my old JK, and the wind noise with the soft top was louder than the tires. I have no problem recommending them. I don’t have experience with the other options.

Considered the Patagonia's but ultimately went with Maxxis Razr's in 35x12.50 17's. In my '15 Sahara, I had Gladiator XComp's, anything would be comfortable after 2 years on those...

Toyo RT’s or Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Best of both worlds and a hybrid off road tire. I am running 37” Ridge Grapplers for the first time. I am a Toyo guy. Been a good tire so far and load range D. 37” Super Swamper IROK bias on the TJ. Chunked like hell but still work on the rocks!
