Falken WILDPEAK MT to replace BFG KO2 on 2019 Rubicons

Falken announced today that it will begin supplying the WILDPEAK MT as the new OE tire for 2019 Rubicons. The article doesn’t state when the change will take place.

Seems surprising that Jeep is walking away from BFGs. Thoughts?

Falken is the supplier of the Wildpeak A/T for the new 1500s with Off-Road package, and the Wildpeak M/T are shown on Rubicon Gladiators. I could imagine Jeep making the OE tire on the MOAB the KO2 and stop using the KM2..they must've got a great deal on the old KM2 to put them on the MOAB.

Making 32" KO2s optional on the non Rubicons would be a good thing. I know I'm looking at getting either those or Wrangler Duratracs when my current set wears out.

Going from an all terrain at 58 lbs/tire to a mud terrain at 61.3 lbs/ tire is the main difference.

Both are siped and C rated with comparable specs so main difference is weight and tread, the K02’s are rated better for all around use, but it would be nice to have the option when ordering as to what your needs/wants are.

Actually KO2's are only 50lbs, so that is a big jump in weight.

The Gladiator Rubicon is spec’d With Falken AT standard, and MT as an upgrade. I would look for something similar with the JL.

Correct, appears I was looking at the “s” rated instead of the “q” (99 mph) 285’s. That’s a 10 lb/tire which is significant as far as unsprung weight

The KO2 is a fantastic tire, but damn do they throw rocks. Like, a lot. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Most importantly, why do they put mud tire as standard for Rubicon. Falken wildpeak also has A/T version that is better suit for all purposes.
