I'm looking at a Rubicon tomorrow that has the factory MOPAR Cold Air Intake (CAI) installed but does not have the hood cut out. Is that how it comes from the factory...without the hood cut out? Is is truly a cold air intake if that's how it comes? Can anyone with factory MOPAR CAI comment? Thank you inadvance!

It has the MOPAR CAI option installed from the factory. It’s a $595 option. What am I missing here?
Oh ok, didn’t know they do that at the factory without cutting the hood.

Where they put all the left-over parts?

It would seem unlikely that the factory would do half an install on the CAI - better pop the hood and check the intake to see what’s there.

IF they have put the intake tube and airbox pieces on but haven’t installed or supplied the hood vent I’d think you’ll have an interesting time getting the parts to fix that.

Pic the dealer sent to prove it had the MOPAR CAI:

Pretty sure this is exactly what happened, take a look at the pics above I posted. The dealer over the phone told me it uses the hood and side vents which I know is complete BS.

Just tell him you want it completed if you are interested in it!

That is BS. Show the dealership the installation instructions (the PDF is on my original thread, linked earlier in here) and insist that they finish the job. Others without the kit have tried to buy just the vent and it’s only available with the full kit but maybe they have someone in Toledo that can get it for them.

So upon looking at the car in person, it appears the factory only did half the job or is this how they come? The vent was in a box in the trunk. See below.

The intake is not installed at the factory. The sticker does not say "Factory Installed". It is installed by a vehicle processor as part of a pre-delivery inspection prior to the vehicle being transported to the dealership. They do not cut into the hood. I know someone who does this for a living. He installs optional accessories (that don't require any type of cutting to the body) and inspects/repairs damage prior to transport.

The OP will need to ask the dealership if they will cut the hood and install the vent.

So that answers the question on how these come with the $525 option. The lid and intermediate pipe are very easy to install. Your essentially paying $200 for a 15 min job.
