I am trying to sort out my 10TW3 install into the OEM Alpine enclosure and the tech who has been working with me at Quart says that our enclosures are 0.35 cu ft. Most people who have replied say that the enclosure is 0.55 cu ft. Can anyone corroborate this with other documentation?

You can take it out, plug any holes and then measure how much liquid it takes to fill it up.

Sounds like a pain in the ass, but I did this for a sub enclosure I built to fit into the spare tire of my XC70 back in the day.

1 mL=1cc of H2O

Though it may not be as accurate, shipping peanuts can help you in the same way. When you pick up the peanuts, snag a carboard box that's 1.0 cubic feet in size (at least 12x12x12) and go to town! I've seen (but not heard) a few setups with the 10TW3 so I would verify you've got the wiring correct on the sub.

I was just thinking of another option as well.

Doesn't the sub have a model number on the voice coil? You should be able to look up the cf specs on Alpines web site and match them as best as you can.

I don't remember anything significant being on the back of the sub, OEM Alpine is a different category than aftermarket Alpine. You'd have better luck measuring than finding someone with some knowledge at Alpine.

There's an alpine spec video from the initial release in the JK, the in floor volume was 15L/.53cf. That was a different (oval) woofer, but same power/VC setup. That may be where the higher volume number comes from.

I haven't seen anything specific for the JLU enclosure.

Dave at Quart confirmed that he had personally measured it. I tried to drop a 10TW3 into that spoce and it sure looks nice but that sub almost twice as much volume as the stock enclosure so I sent it back

I replied on your other post but this is direct from FCA after quoting my VIN.

Please see the below answer from our North American audio engineering team.

Speaker sizes and power handling capacity
  • IP contains two 3.5" on top, two 4.5" within enclosures (lower part of dash).
  • Overhead sound bar contains the same set of these 4 speakers.
  • all speakers are driven by 46W chip from the amplifier, but rated at 50W (max).
Subwoofer size and power handling capacity
  • 10", 50W per coil. Four coils, so rated 200W total
Subwoofer enclosure volume
  • 16L
Amplifier power output in WRMS
  • 12channels, 46W each = 552W
16L is 0.565cuft. Maybe the guy from Quart was only measuring the main enclosure and not the bit the hangs out the side to extend the volume. If I get a chance I'll pull mine out over the weekend and fill with water to measure accurately.
