Exterior Storage of CO2 Tank - Protection

For those of you with CO2 tanks mounted externally, do you protect them from the elements in any way? Using a regular tank mount seems like it can get damaged by dirt, mud, branches, rocks, etc. Has anyone seen protective covers or hardcase mounts? Or a narrow but tall hardcase that would fit a tank mount inside?

Tank is roughly 24" tall with a 9.5" diameter at the handle.
