Extended warrantees aren't really warrantees, they are repair insurance. As others have said, statistically the insurance companies always win similar to a casino's house advantage. They're really good at collecting more in premiums than they pay, that's how they stay in business. But that doesn't mean don't get it.I don't see any recent topics on this.
What are you recent buyers planning on or have done as far as warranties?

The question you need to ask is if you could handle a surprise large repair bill. If you can, you are more likely to be better off handling the repair bills yourself. But if you are like most people where a surprise large repair bill would be a big to huge problem then you are better off taking the extended warrantee to avoid that problem. Overall, extended warrantee customers end up paying a little more, but repair costs become more predictable and less extreme which is the value that you're paying extra for.
