I don't see any recent topics on this.
What are you recent buyers planning on or have done as far as warranties?
Thanks.
Extended warrantees aren't really warrantees, they are repair insurance. As others have said, statistically the insurance companies always win similar to a casino's house advantage. They're really good at collecting more in premiums than they pay, that's how they stay in business. But that doesn't mean don't get it.

The question you need to ask is if you could handle a surprise large repair bill. If you can, you are more likely to be better off handling the repair bills yourself. But if you are like most people where a surprise large repair bill would be a big to huge problem then you are better off taking the extended warrantee to avoid that problem. Overall, extended warrantee customers end up paying a little more, but repair costs become more predictable and less extreme which is the value that you're paying extra for.

This is the easiest way to put it! This is how I made my decision and got MaxCare

Conversely, that's also how I made my decision to not get an extended warrantee. I'm a saver with minimal debt and excellent credit rating. One way or another I can handle a large surprise repair bill (I won't like it, but I can handle it). I also hate the stress of arguing to get something covered so going without the extended warrantee is the way to go for me. It will be different for others.

One thing I like about the warranty that I was told, is that if you have it and never use it, right now, when it expires MOPAR refunds the total cost of what you bought it for to you. Doesn't seem like a bad deal, there if you need it and if you never did then they give you your money back. I am considering the Max Care Protection plan...haven't pulled the trigger yet.

All good advice I'll just throw in my experience with it (on our previous GC) which was excellent. The warranty did pay for itself but we had the truck for 11 years so it wasn't a surprise. Had things like the water pump, vent blending doors (a few times) etc. It also covers stuff I wasn't expecting, like shocks @100+ miles. All of that without any fight at the dealer (that may be dealer dependant I guess).

The experience was good enough and we keep our vehicles long enough that I purchased them with my 2018 Wrangler and the new 2019 GC. In the end (like others have said). If I never use them or they don't pay for themselves that is a risk I'm OK with that.

We have started to offer Mopar warranty products slightly over cost.

For those of you with GEICO car insurance (like me) they offer an outstanding alternative to an extended vehicle warranty as an add-on to your policy. It’s called Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI) and it’s significantly less expensive than a Mopar extended warranty.

You have to add it on when the Jeep is less than 15 months old and with less than 15,000 miles. As long as you maintain your general policy, you can keep renewing the MBI coverage on the Jeep for 7 years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first. A $250 deductible applies to all MBI claims.

It covers all parts and labor at the repair shop of your choice (including the dealer if you want to take it there) and covers all aspects of the vehicle except wear/tear items and intentional misuse/negligent maintenance.

The best part is the cost. My 6 month cost for this coverage: $33.60 and I live in Southern California. That’s less than $70 a year. If it stays that cost then the coverage will be less than $500 over the full length (7y/100K).

I’m expecting some inflation on that number though so assuming it goes up a little over the length of the deal (I’m going the full 7y/100k) it’ll still be far cheaper than a Mopar extended warranty with no huge up-front out of pocket cost.

It might not be for everyone and ymmv but it’s working well for my situation.
