Hi all,
I am considering buying an extended warranty for my new JLU to extend the comprehensive warranty from 3 to 5.
would appreciate your feedback on that, not sure if it is worth it or not?
Keep in mind I won't be putting a lot of miles on it,

Thanks

Personal preference just remember if you buy a 5yr warranty you are only adding 2 yrs to the factory bumper to bumper as the extended warranty starts when it is purchased. I don’t put many miles on mine either so the factory 3yr is usually plenty for me to find any issues.

When I bought my 16 Sahara, they started the pricing for this warranty at 3xxx. Crazy. Good thing I didn't buy it, since I'm gonna trade in on a jlur now.

Edited to correct the nonsense my phone put in here I stead of what I wrote.

My thoughts after buying way too many new cars.

I have never used the 3-5 year extended warranty, I either had warranty items that failed before, or after about 80K miles. I am not sure that I would buy another.

Now, the lifetime warranty on a Jeep makes more sense. But, my current 2009 only had one repair that would have qualified (maybe) when the radiator went out. However, that only cost me $1K.

On my '08 Sahara JKU and '15 Hard Rock, I looked at 3rd party warranties (can't remember if they were 7 year, or lifetime, IIRC they were lifetime), since they were typically half the price of what a dealership offered. I'd then give the dealership the option to match, which both times they did. I think my lifetime warranty was about $1700ish.

I just want a warranty that makes the dealership actually fix stuff while under warranty, instead of "can't replicate" or "they all do that".

My opinion on any extended warranty whether it is a car or a toaster... save your money. That money you saved on all the warranties will likely pay for any replacement appliance or repair, etc. over the long run.

Unless you think you will have a major problem and the dealer/manufacturer will honor it without finding a loophole, it doesn't pencil out. Remember... manufacturer warranties are designed to make money for them.
