2020 Wrangler Unlimited Sport S
Hi all,

First, this forum was crucial in helping me decide to buy my first Jeep; love the helpful community!

Context: I have a JL Unlimited Sport S with 245/75/R17 stock tires, but live in Vermont and drive to the ski resorts every weekend. We also get a fair amount of ice on the front and back end of winter (which is 4+ months). Have had Subarus and a Tacoma and a Highlander with studded winter tires, and they've been life savers (literally) for me and stranded Audis and BMWs from out of state (no offense) with all seasons, so want to get studded winter tires for my JL.

Question:

I've heard/read a lot about "minus-sizing" for winter tires, and am curious about others' living in snow belts experiences with minus-sizing? According to what I've heard I should go with 235/85/R16. Have others tried this (or similar ratio minus-sizing)? Have some tried keeping the R17 and gone 235/85?

Thanks in advance!
